Intercooler recommandation
I wonder... use thermocouples before and after each intercooler and only swap one maybe? That would give you same temp conditions and show you temp drop on the intercooler. If you did the same with pressure ports it would also possibly show you pressure drop except that one side might feed the other...
Gotta be careful. Bigger aint always better. I see some of those 6 inch cores and unless you are putting those things in front of the car (which you aint), the flow can be restricted and cooling will go down. Never heard of secans, I guess we don't need them on Evo's. But with static pressure buildup, a slightly different end tank won't make much difference. It must be the cores on the secans that make the difference not the end tanks.

Secans are "magic" $20k intercoolers...
No "lack of flow" with our 6" units, there is an immense amount of air coming through that duct at road speed, and while they are not on the front of the car, they cool a hell of a lot better than stock, and keep the IAT's in control when venturing into the upper portions of the turbocharger map even at 900+whp.
Just my $.02

marksi,
sorry about that girl calling you last night. she just likes to speak polish

how could I possibly miss a discussion on SECAN's, und de bist Intercoolah in de verld.
Seriously, I am in the market for bigger coolers myself. Evoms, Awe, and Marks all look good. Not sure I can make a decision of which to go with. I have saamco hoses from mike at awe and do not wish to change them out, so that rules out the evo's I guess. Ahh, decisions, decisions....
Money aside, Secan intercoolers do as advertised...they are very efficient, and work very well. You can mock them for their price, but they are hardly magic.

Problem with aftermarket hoses is that they all have variances with the aluminum fittings that go into the IC... thus possible problems with boost leaks... Only way to do it is to actually have a hose from you... put it in and bench pressure test the unit... all of which is possible...
need more info let me know..
here is a test I did .. logged it... 18g car... exhaust, our flash at 1.1 with a 1.2bar peak, stock Wgs... no boost controller ...
runs were from 0 to 250Km... about 150mph... these are with the stock ends fittings...
same car same day did 564 uncorected HP and 572rwtq uncorrected on our ICs vs 543rwhp on stock... same boost and same tune.
Ill have a lot more info on all the stuff as soon as I launch the site...

Oh good you made it...
NEVER questioned their efficiency, just balking at the price. For that price they would HAVE to be magic for me to pay that...
the maximum hp level I plan to go to is 650 whp. So based on this would 3.5 inch cores be enough? I know the stock size plumbing is a restriction, but I don't feel like spending money on new hoses when I just did. So the stock saamco's stay. That being said, my hp level isn't insanity like others in here. just enough for me.
Mark, if your IC's will work with the samco's and you think 3.5" are good for my app, which they would appear to be, pm me.
