I'm no engineer and didn't sleep at the Holiday Inn Express either, but with the IC's radiating heat, wouldn't the air feeding the turbo intakes be cooler if it was coming from above and outside. I'm just trying to learn, not criticize.

Yes the intake temps are much cooler and cleaner with that setup.
Gotta love how we have had roughly 3-5 threads about IC's this past year and all of them include a dispute about secans..

The air still gets in from the outside... the side scoop... you decrease the path by at least 4 feet per turbo and it doesnt go through and behind the hot engine.
In this se tup you have less then 2 feet to the turbo .. a direct path vs. mangled junk like in the pic below... also my set up does the same....

that set up is on most if not all 1000+rwhp P cars... be it 996 or 997s...
