Hello all !

I just bought a 2001 911 Turbo with 38,000 miles on it. I will have it in one week from now. It is Guard red and looks great but it has these fugly front bumperettes on it. I want to get rid of them ASAP so I would like to have info from those of you who already did the same removal process.

Thanks to Jon I already know that I will have to buy the following part numbers:
996 505 563 0001C
996 505 564 0001C

I just hope that the bumperettes have been installed thru the grills and not thru the bumper cover (I read somewhere that someone had that problem with his car).

What I would like to know is how can I remove the bumperettes in order to check if the front bumper cover is OK before ordering the front grills (the 2 part numbers specified earlier). In short, how do they hold there?

Thanks for you help!

My car didn't have them, so I can't be sure. But my guess is that they are like the rear. There is a little cover plate in the bumperette that you pry off, and that reveals a screw or bolt that can be removed to get the bumperette off.

I am pretty sure that they go through the grille, and bolt into the metal bumper behind the front plastic cover. The upper corner of the grille is cut out to accommodate the bumperettes.

If you figure it out, please post some pics.

I can confirm that they are not like the rear ones. I've check those of my car and I cannot figure how to remove them. They seem attached from the back. One thing is sure, there is no bolt or Allan key under them like there is for the rear ones. The rear ones are very easy to remove.

How to remove the front ones? I guess that will remain an unanswered question for now.

Anyway the front bumper will have to be repainted if I remove the ugly front bumperettes because the previous owner had a small accident and the front bumper was repainted but without removing the bumperettes... They probably put masking tape on them instead of removing them to do a real professional job. So removing them means to repaint the front bumper, but this time the job will be performed by professionals who will work as professionals. But I would really like to know now if the front bumper only need to be repainted or if I have to buy a new one. The only way to know for sure is to remove the bumperettes to examine the bumper behind them.
