Early 01 Front Bumperette removal - pics?

I'm deciding whether or not to remove the front bumperettes from my early 01 996tt. I've read conflicting stories about procedure and whether or not there are holes left from the factory install.

It's important to me to not modify to the point where it couldn't be reversed. I guess i'd buy a second bumper to have painted at that point and keep my original.

I would love if someone has pics of the removal and what the bumper looks like afterward.

Thanks!

Al

Who knows if I will want to put the car back to 100% stock. It's a nice option to have. I don't want to debate it. The topic is does anyone with experience have pictures of after the bumperettes were removed.

fyi. when it comes to front bumperettes i really doubt anyone would ever want you to put them back, they are fugly, not trying to be a d*ck, i just think you would be wasting your money buying another bumper for no reason

The removal of bumperettes leaves a hole, but it is not in the bumper. It is in the grilles that cover the outboard radiators. You would want to replace those grills. The part numbers are as follows:

996 505 563 0001C
996 505 564 0001C

The change is entirely reversible if you keep the old grilles and bumperettes. I've attached a photo of the grille on my car. When you remove the bumperette, the solid region in the upper LH corner will have been cut out in your grille to accommodate the bumperette.

Hey Al,

What have you been up to? Hit me up some time.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting info on this topic. Before you order anything I'd take them off and see for yourself. If they are like the rear ones they should be attached by an allen bolt.

Honestly, I kinda liked the look on your car. It breaks up the yellowness
I guess it depends if you like the clean look.

Not trying to add to the pressure....but I have agree with V.

Are you guys going to Rolex 24 Hour at the end of the month?
I'm on the fence, still. My buddy did the 'Roar before the 24' this past weekend and then they were making the decision about running in the race again. I am still on the fence - life is getting in the way - no surprise.

Let me know if you go.

I think i'll start the project over the next day or so.

I'm going to have to pass on the Rolex for the same reason.
