Ecu ... 2001-2005 are they different ?

I hope this is an easy question.
My 996 TT is a m.y 2001 and is equipped with K24.
It has been flashed to get 1.2 bar.
My friend has a 996 Turbo S cab m.y. 2005.

The question is:
Is it possible to upload my map to the car of my friend ?
His tuner says that the car will not start ... in his opinion this operation is not possible because the Ecu-control units are different !

What do you think guys ?

It wont start because of the security between the ECU and the Key. They have to match.

OK, but i don't want to put my ecu on his car.
I just want to download the program file from my ecu and upload on his ecu.
Even in this way will it not be working ?

A tuner can probably do it... but that is stealing intellectual properties...
