How NOT to drive

So I get up about 40 minutes ago, and am greeted by a pleasant message...

Tony from EPL has dropped me a note to let me know that my flash has been authorized and is ready to be uploaded to my ride....

As I am eating my cheerios and thinking about dropping the flash in and trying it out on my "favorite road", I see this story on the news:

http://cbs2.com/local/Car.Goes.Over.2.1472298.html

It turns out some dumb a@@ decided to ruin my Friday morning

Well, I am sure his (or her) Friday morning was MUCH WORSE than mine.

I really hope they are ok, even if they are a dum-dum.

Maybe now would be a good time to get those pads swapped..

It is raining down here anyways. Besides, the LAST thing you need on Mulholland Drive is to see 1 BAR. Otherwise, you might wind up in the same place as Charlie's ride...

More like a set of PSS10s "on soft" and a GT3 rear sway.

I drove by that just after they had reopened Mullholland...

Not much room for error there!

Neil, don't know if you've been in LA, but it's a pretty killer road. Beautiful, and a great drive. Live right off of it, so its a pretty convenient place to get some wheel time. Now if I tried to drive it in a RWD Sledgehammer, THEN I would feel like Knievel!

Will be interesting to see where the Merc went off. Was there guardrail?

Nope, no guardrail. It was in between beverly glen and coldwater. There's a house with a big playground set across the street you can use as a point of reference.

That road has been ruined by too much housing around, the road itself is really a nice stretch but to do over 35mph in mostplaces is not nice to people who live there and a big risk to hit something or someone. If it was a deserted mountainside road it'd be a paradise (apart from the rough sucky surface making it super bumpy). Just bring the car to a track instead.

I agree, if you go over 40mph on that road you are looking for trouble.

If you've ever hiked on the trails north of Mullholland in between Laurel Pass and Coldwater- there's a couple really old rusted out cars down there.

Mr. White,

I agree with you. Since I have been living in the area for a LONG time, I remember when there were far fewer houses and much nicer roads up there. That has taken away quite a bit of the driving pleasure (not to mention the traffic).

Having said that, it is still nice to be able to take a drive up there on an average weeknight without going too far.

One of my few issues with the Turbo versus other cars I have owned/driven is that it is not a whole lot of fun to drive at 7/10ths. It gets much better the harder you push it, which, as you stated, really makes it hard to appreciate on the street. It lacks the "playful" "fluid" character of 50/50 balance FR sports cars. It wants to be DRIVEN HARD, which can only really be done on a track.
