Question Fun Without Psm

OK Guys, lets here the stories of playing without the PSM on. I played a little around town and did a few 180's, it's incredible what the PSM does.

Wait a minute! A guy your age is doing donuts around town? What's up with that?

Seriously though, doesn't it automatically kick back on in extreme circumstances anyway?

I haven't done it with the TT yet, but I did turn off the ESP on an SL55. Nearly did a 180, but backed off since I had my father in the car. I thought he was going to have a heart attack! You also don't need to worry about burning the clutch with the autobox.

It is off until you hit the brake. You can not shut it off on the brake side.

I recall reading somewhere that if you turn it off and the sensors (wheel speed, steering angle, yaw rate, etc.) detect extreme circumstances, the computer will turn it back on.
That really isn't true?
I have to read my manual.

No it will stay off, but the PSM when hitting the brakes is never off. Nor can it be shut down. So get it crossed up then slam the brakes

I turned mine off for the first time at our autocross 2 weeks ago. Our autocross course is not a parking lot. It's about 1.5 miles/lap. It's on an Air Base here in Edmonton. The track was originally constructed as an alternate landing site for the space shuttle.

Any-who... I got up the nerve to turn the thing off. It was fantastic! One of my goals with this car is to learn to throttle stear. WHAT A BLAST! Fortunately there are no curbs at our autocross site. This is a good thing as I had a little too much throttle steer around a corner and went over the grass at the apex of a corner. With PSM off, you can have way more fun driving the car around corners with the *** hanging out! (ps - you probable shouldn't try this if your track has curbs or cement wall unless you have a lot of experience.)

Dr you should know PSM and ABS are 2 different items.. the ABS does stay active but is a braking issue, the PSM is a stability syatem. The PSM brakes different corners and retards power so you don't do 360's. The ABS system is not dissableable (don't think thats a word) as far as I know.

Let me clarify, if you cross the car up and hit the throttle and the brake the car will close the throttle body and brake any wheel necessary to stabilize the car. It is not just ABS that is controlling that, but also the PSM portion of the CM. You can put the standard GT3 computer in the ABS system and these functions will go away, yet the ABS will remain. To shut the rest of these functions off durning braking requires the PSM portion of the software to be removed.

Last weekend at a track day I finally got the huevos to turn PSM off.
At the PDE they always said LEAVE IT ON! so I had been spooked.
Anyway, the car is WAY better on the track with it off.
You can hang the rear out a little on the apex and really power thru the turns.

Try it when the track is not crowded!
