Question Right Rear Axle Seal DIY?

Hey Guys,

Was about to change the transmission oil and noticed a leak from the main seal around the right rear axle, where it meets the transmission. Not exactly sure what the seal is called, but i couldn't find anything in the workshop manual, on the forums here. Anyone know of a DIY? any links with info?

THanks!!

Iceman,
Not sure of the side you mean but the passenger side has a vent over it. Iceman said "Mav you can be my wing man anytime"

Bringing this one back from the dead. Seems little to no discussion on the rear axle seals and CV boots. It appears I have a drivers side leak at this location, about to get going on a DIY but wanted to know if anyone is aware of something already out there. Not much success here or Rentech or Renntrack etc. Any help would be appreciated; I didn't see anything either in the manual. BTW anyone know what the small black round-ish filter looking thing is above the hoses under the car on drivers side forward of the CV joint? Thanks.

on edit: section 39-22-19 of the service manual discusses half shaft sealing ring removal and installation.

I did some further diagnosis and the leak appears to originate from this small black ball type canister that looks to be threaded in place. Anyone know what it is? Thanks. On edit, looks like a filter I just tightened it about 270deg.
