Best turbos
SubscribeHey Mark, put that stuff back on my car!

I am presently doing a complete build (full transmission AND motor) using the 3071 turbos.
Akram @ MotorWerks is my guy, and we're pretty excited about it. We're building "the perfect all-rounder". Rocketship for the street, Monster on the roadcourse, AND 200 mph Beast for the TX Mile.
Of course, the turbos are only one component. To do it right, you have to get all the goodies! If you don't, then you are quickly on your way to a re-build!
I'll keep ya posted on the results, but we are looking @ 750 hp at the wheels.
Should run pretty good.

If you are doing a motor build what kept you from going to the 3076s? I was told they spool up almost identical but the 3076s are good for a lot more power. Originally Posted by frankster

Also, what is involved in a tranny build to support higher hp levels you are looking for? I am also doing a motor build right now and am trying to figure out what turbos to go with.

Agree with you 100 percent. Remember Akram was the first engine builder to assemble a 3.8 liter motor that made over 800 RWHP. He did this back in 2007 before EVOMS, Ruf or any other major American tuner. He probably has built more turbos than anyone in Texas and maybe in the South? I do not know any motor that he has built that is not currently running?? He has built I think 5 Switzer kits since he open Motorwerks last year? The first to build a TPC turbocharged Caymen and the list just continues... You have made a wise decision.Originally Posted by frankster

Congrats

Sounds like someone needs a p800...

May want to pay attention to the 60-130 thread tonight as to what setup is the fastest for a stock bottom end. When I build the motor it will hopefully REALLY shock the world to see what it will do when she has a nice 3.6 in her instead of a tired ol stock 3.6

I think we are all forgetting what we build the cars for. If you want something that's fun for the 1/4 and crushing people on the highway then you want a setup like mine. If you want to be able to road course I would def. have picked a smaller turbo with a smaller hot side. My kit has the ability to go with different turbos, but I wanted fun on the highway and drag racing so I went with what I did.
So many questions! So little time to answer. (How do you guys have all the time to spend on here?)
I will have to double check with Akram as to the 3071's or 3076's.
But the focus for this build is the perfect "all-rounder", without having to open up the motor. With this motor being so robust, there is little need to "open the motor".
I wanted the most amount of motor that would still be useable on the roadcourses, romp & stomp on the street, AND go break 200 @ the TX Mile.
The amount of power is not the issue, but the amount of "useable" power is.
After tires, the most important components to getting the power to the ground are the transmission and the suspension.
I got the JIC's because of the bargain AND the 3 way adjustability. That is CRUCIAL to getting the most power to the tires. The shortcoming of the PSSS10's, is the single damping adjustment. There is very little you can do with that.
The transmission is the second issue. I purchased the warranty on mine, so when it blew, the first $6000 of the rebuild was covered. I spend the extra $4500 to do the upgrades which will be necessary, later on. 997 1st gear upgrade (0-60 without a shift), cryo-treatment of the gears (makes them 4X stronger), external oil line upgrade (prevents 5th and 6th gear synchro burnouts), and the OS Gilken LSD upgrade (rated to well over 1000 hp!)
These attributes, combined with AWD, I will have @ 750hp, a highly effective roadcourse car, the most potent street car, a daily driver - even in the rain, and a legitimate 200 mph car. So, things like drag racing & 60 - 130 times should be a non issue once I have dialed in everything else.
What else is there, really?

A 3076r with .82s in case is best... make sure your turbos are done by a reputable company... per order vs off shelf...
Too bad no one is running my ski800 turbos in your area as they will give the 30rs a run for the money... both at lower rpms as well as up on top....
Robs listened... got some good 35rs from me and the Hp levels speak for themselves...
TQ is insane as well... and he has it all very early....
good luck,
markski

Thanks Rob, do you remember what kit it was?
You have driven a lot of setups, how would you describe the driveability and response?
