Do you guys get 'harassed' everytime you drive your car? (and other good car stories)
I think he was saying that the poster probably bought his GT2 used and didn't pay $200k for it.
I have no problem with that since I certainly wouldn't pay $200k for a new GT2 either. Not when I can get a pristine used one with extremely low miles for half that amount.
That said; I'll personally never buy a brand new car again. I'll let others take the initial hit.
As far his 335i, X5 and 4Runner...all three of them are great cars.

I beg to differ, if I had $200k and I could a get a GT2 brand spankin new, total virgin with only my DNA in it I WOULD!!!!!

ok, I'd settle for that, but very low mileage and you could not have been the first owner
Here's a take from the other perspective for ****s and giggles.

I lost it...

You're 100% accurate Scott. Thats exactly the point I was making. I couldn't care less what some of these people say about what I'm driving. I've owned some damn nice cars (see signature) that I will guarantee cost just as much as their used GT2. Just looked at Ebay and there are a number of them on there right now for $60-75K with low miles. I purchased my '07 C6Z06 brand new and that is the most I'm going to spend on a car.
If they want to think they are a baller driving a car that they picked up for 35-50% of it's original MSRP so be it. I'll just sit back and
If I really wanted to "look" like a baller in my area, I would've bought a Gallardo or a 360.

Not that I disagree with you, but I am not sure that the guys talking about their 200k porsche were acting like a "baller". Seems to me that they were making a statement and some people like bringing value into it. Yes, these guys are paying for their GT2 what I pad for my turbo, good for them. I have no issue. You can get a Gallardo for 80k these days as well and 430's 360's etc. There is an elitist mentality for sure, but in this instance I did not notice any from anyone.
How's that beast doing at TPC? I like Peter's car parked next to yours. I was harrassed this morning before Cars & Coffee by a GTO on the road. One gear on low boost was good enough.
you elitist pig !!!
Please don't think my comment was directed at the majority of people on here and certainly not you. You do not come across as an elitist at all....just a performance HP junkie that happens to have great taste in vehicles.
I'm kinda wishing I never made the comment now. Don't want to take the thread off topic anymore as there are some pretty
and
stories on here.
Kimber .45ACP 1911 FTW....Got one and love it.
"Carry" on folks

Well this thread has taken a slight turn!
Here is my take on the "harassment"
The general public couldn't tell the difference between a boxter and a GT1. They don't get it and don't seem to care. To most, Porsches have negative connotations, conspicuous consumption, greed, large egos etc. If that is the way the general public likes to view P cars I'm fine with it. Just stay in the right lane!
While some of us purchased P cars as "status" symbols or to announce our arrival into adulthood the majority of us just purchased to enjoy the ride.
At the end of the day they are just cars and should be treated as tools not the automotive equivalent of the "Holy Grail"
As far as status symbols and ballers go just remember there are plenty of 30k millionaires around these days but the true $$ guys don't feel the need to show the world how much they have.
There are a lot of guys with more "stuff" than me but I am content to burn gas and have fun! Turn up the boost and let's go!!
