Rear noise when make hard left turn

I know there have been discussions regarding clicking noise but mine is a little different. When I make a hard left turn, occassionally I can hear rear grinding noise sounded like it's either coming from the transmission or something is rubbing on the right rear. I have stock rims and tires. It doesn't happen all the time. Does anyone know what could be causing that? I hope there isn't anything wrong w/ the transmission.

if you rule out rubbing, it's likely the wheel bearings.

The diff working hard? It could also be the tire rubbing against the wheel well but that happens usually when lowered or with aftermarket wheels with wrong offset.

Right rear wheel bearing is a good possibility.

Al funny you say that, we just installed 4 fresh wheel bearings... they didn't sound or feel like they were gone, but when 2 were removed (can't remember which one) they were shot and virtually disintegrated... we just thought it was best to change them as they have not been done in 4/5 years

What is the best way to test wheel bearings other than taking them out?

Carnut- Did you ever find out what was causing that grinding/vibration earlier in the year? My car is doing the same thing now. Thx.

I didn't. I replaced the wheel bearings on both sides and it didn't help. The next thing I was going to try is the transmission mount. I haven't had a chance to take it to the dealer to have them looked at it. Will keep you posted.

I replaced both rear half shaft bearings and that did the trick. I haven't read all this thread and it may've already been mentioned but bad clutch release beraring or pilot tube damage can also give grinding noises.
