Vivid Dual Snorkel How To Update

After running this for a while I found a deficency in the mounting of this unit. It tends to sit low to the left.

This is because Vivid did not include the lower left (or right) stabilizing mounts as the stock setup has.

No problem, we made our own for left and right to fit into the stock rubber mounts. You do not see them once installed, so even those with a few mechanical skills can rest easy that no one will see their work.

I slammed mine together and they look no scream I can assure you.

Here is the updated How To with the template for the brackets.

I did the cheap velcro fix using the kind with tape on the back. Couple of pieces on the underside of the box that stick to the other pieces stuck to the engine compartment below. All is now secure.

Honestly:

I feel for the price, this type of thing should be addressed at design time. But overall I am satisfied. If it is the same for the Carbon Version, that would sting. But as most people probably do not install it themselves, they do not notice the problem.

There and then, I have been know to be a perfectionist and a little hard to please. . At least I know MY car is top tier.

Vivid came through with our request to build it, fro that they should be commended. I hope can take the comments and make the product better.

I couldn't open the link you posted so didn't see how you fixed it. I bought the carbon front side of the box and the metal attachment bracket snapped in half after a few months and was bumping around. The velcro solution worked so not a problem for me. Props to Dan for re-designing the original in order to fit my aftermarket hoses.

I remade that bracket also. The original was completely inadequate. I remade it before I even started the install.

You need cut the string out and paste it into the command line (URL Line) of your browser. I am not allowed to post links on 6speed, I have been chastized many time by the forum gistapo. It doesn't seem to matter that it is for the good of the members. But policy is policy I suppose.

I am the forum gestapo. Don't know why they wouldn't let you post links unless it's for another forum or a non sponsor. I'll check out your link when I've finished looking at everything else. Sometimes when you switch off the forum it dumps all the new posts.

Nice write up and DIY instruction. You went the extra mile with the additional support brackets.

nice DIY
i think vivid could do a little better !!
that mount is very tiny and not secure, overall i was expecting something better, like painted the back of the inlet so you cant see it when close the lid, and my holes they did not fit exactly ,i had to make them bigger to match the oem holes, also when i close the lid is not closed easy like before ,i think i have to see whats going on
other than that is okay

Billystang, sounds like you have the same problem I had at first. Do you have aftermarket hoses? If yes, you need to send back the second snorkel and ask Dan for one that is made for the aftermarket hoses. I think that is what is interfering with the engine lid.
