Can it be wired to the brakes for instant-braking as well?

I dont think its for instant on. I think its for pop mode. Pop mode is a sequence of very short bursts of K or Ka radation that allows an officer to "monitor" traffic without setting off detectors. This would be very easily abused by police to write citations eventhough its not accurate enough for court. It would turn out to be your word verses the officers (and we all know what would happen). Mike V can give a better explaination

I'm waiting for the upgrade that will make it shut the f**k up! Why can't it beep one to three times to let you know it's there and then just shut up and flash? So many times was I close to tossing it out the window. Nothing worse the sitting at a red light in front of a dept. store and hearing beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep. Then they wonder why people commit murder!

Stryke,

You do realize that you can mute it by pressing the button. But it does beep if it finds more bogeys.

Just change modes in the city, etc.

I hated nothing more than being pulled over and looking down at my p.o.s. K40 flashing and clicking (barely audible)

I think its funny how everyone thinks I hate mine. Everyone that rides with me mentions how I always curse at it around town. Apparently right before I hit mute it I always say "shut the f@%k up!!!!!"

Well shucks......w/four Vals, there goes my Christmas money.
Gotta say though, it sure beats buying new units (and the hassle of re-install, etc).

I upgraded one of mine. After it cycles through the startup, the display flashes p-o-p. Seems work exactly the same otherwise. I may upgrade the other 3 over time. I think a laser scrambler would be a great addition.

Remember POP was so difficult to get accurate b/c of the extremely close frequency to leaky cheap nearby radar detectors that would set it off. I got a newer V1 (gave the other to a friend) and it starts up with P O P in the LED read out. The current v1 already has the Pop detector in it.

On three separate occasions I was pulled over and the officer/trooper told me he got me on radar. Each of those times my V1 was completely silent. It is always set to its most sensitive mode.

The last time was for 107mph in a 55mph zone.

When I say not a peep......I mean it didn't beep even once!!!!!!!

Is this POP radar??????
