Are coilovers inherently noisy? Having PSS9's on my '01 turbo is my first experience with this sort of setup. Every time I hit a bump, I get noticeable suspension noise. Either it's spring clatter or something is rubbing. It's all very annoying since the stock suspension was so quiet (well, normal). I joke to others that it's like driving a truck with chickens up front. Lots of squawking noises. Or should my mechanic make some adjustments?

I have no plans to track my Turbo and couldn't be happier with X73. Nice ride height, improved handing, and a firmer ride, but not at all harsh on South Florida roads.

And you get the stiffer motor mounts too.

I wonder if it's the drop links clunking against the sway bar.. Common issue with those things.

Several issues happen with coil overs and like setups. First is the helper spring and main spring will have a tendency to creak on turning. Not while going down the road, but standing idle turning the wheel. This can be eliminated by plastic spacers or liners at the bases of the spring. Normally the PSS9s have this.

The other issue is people like to dial in a lot of negative chamber. I find that to much will rub the brake line support on full turn in. The suspension will catch that little bracket causing a clunk. All of which can be eliminated.

The last issue which most will not have to deal with is the monoballs and salt. If you drive your car in the winter the salt will cause the monoballs to creak terribly when they get the dust on them. A little HHS2000 will clear that up and keep them safe.

My coilovers do not make an ounce of noise.

X73 is a great suspension! Great handling, the car doesn't look "slammed" with the ride height, and it's a nice ride.

Has anyone seen any Ring times from Porsche for a Turbo with X73? They're not out there. Porsche doesn't want people to know how much faster the car is with the suspension.

Good ideas to investigate

Stephen,
Thanks for the hints. I'll bring this laundry list to the shop when I see them next week.

PSS9 can be softer than stock if u choose to. JIC is great track set up but for street use PSS9 wins hand down.

How come people rarely mention the JRZ Doubles? I thought they are also price-perf comparable to the PSS-9 and JIC, maybe even better.
