Does anyone know what the Carrera GT Shifter assembly is like?

I'm wondering what it shifts like and if it could be installed into the 996 compartment?

I'm not talking about mounting it like the GT, I mean can it fitted in the 996 stock location?

I know that the GT shifter isn't mounted on a flat surface, but I'm sure this is irrelevant as the 996 cables will still determine where the shifter sits when in neutral

Does anyone know if the GT assembly is similar in design to the 996, and if so could it be retrofitted?
