Having an issue w/my clutch. Any ideas???

I've noticed that my clutch hasn't been feeling right over the last few days. When I push the clutch pedal down it feels like it's sticking as I push it to the floor. Today I when I got in the car I pushed the clutch down two times and noticed it was very stiff and required a lot of effort to push it all the way down. On the third try it felt normal. There is also a loud humming noise coming from the rear and it's more noticeable when I turn the steering wheel from left to right when the car is stopped.

I checked the hydrolic fluid reservoir and the level is normal.
My car is an 02 with 10k miles on it and is totally stock. No track time no abuse. Any ideas as to what it may be would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I'm no mechanic, but I venture to say that the accumulator is toast. Do a search on this forum using that term and you'll find plenty of hits, including perhaps even a DIY writeup.

Yes, those are the symptoms of the accumulator and/or slave going south. Very common problem on this car. A lot of people have converted to the GT2/3 style.

Thanks a ton for the info! I did a search and found a DIY posted by Mikelly. Great thread. I just crawled under the car. It doesn't look like it will be to difficult to fix. I'll be ordering the parts this afternoon.

Make sure that you get it tight. Torque spec is 30Nm/22.2 ft-lbs. It's hard to get a wrench on, and it will leak if it isn't fully tight. Don't ask me how I know.

I finally received everything I needed in the mail. I followed the instructions posted by mikelly https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...or-w-pics.html .The job wasn't really that hard and took me about 2 hours. I would recommend this to a beginner. Thanks again for the tips. The problem I was having was the accumulator. Car runs perfect now.
