I popped into Best Buy and they are selling the red 8500 X50 for $309.99, which is more than from Escort. I don't know if you pay tax or shipping from OH, but I'd still get it from them. Anyone know what's with the blue display they offer? It's something like $40 more and doesn't seem worth it if it is just a different color to look at.

the blue color is purely for cosmetic reasons. Escort says it costs more for them to produce the blue LED and hence the cost increase

Yep, blue display is for looks only and I read it is harder to see in the sunlight.

Every once in a while Best buy gives in the mail 10% coupons. So I think they would honor them for a passport.

I bought on in De, no sales tax and also had a frequent buyer card, so I think I got like another $10 or $15 back.

Overall, as I said, comparing to my friends V1 (which I have used for 4 to 5 weeks at a time) I am very pleased.

Hey Lizard,
How did you hard wire and where did you mount it?

it's mounted up and to the right of the rear view mirror - just below the shade that runs across the tops of the windshields. the cord runs in between the windhsield and the headliner then down the A pillar passenger side. you can use a credit card to push it in the crack. i then removed the passenger a/c vent and pushed the cord through a hole so that it would come out in the foot well - essentially going behind the glovebox. from there, i connected it to the extra power source that is located behind front center console(behind the storage bin/cd holder tray. i grounded it to a metal bolt. now the radar comes on when i start the car and all you see is it sitting up there - appearing cordless and knowing when to turn on/off

now, if i could just locate an empty power supply on the 3er????? any clues or leads to a website that might be able to help
