Need advice on replacing 996TT seats

So the idiot in me put a bottle of iced tea on my passenger seat (without tightening the cap) on a hot day in our beautiful Southern California... which ultimately left some permanent damage to the leather.

Before I run off and spend some $$ to repair the leather, I thought this might be an opportunity to replace the seats! I'd like to get some suggestions on a good replacement seats for a 2002 996 TT. I didn't track the car at all but will in the near future. I'm not looking to put a roll cage nor turning it into a track car. I still like driving it around town in a comfortable seat while being able to take it around the track once in a while. I will also get annoyed by the *malfunction seat* light so the seats will have to work with that. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!!

I suggest 997 sport seats. They have great support for the track without being race seats, they bolt right in with just a small wiring connector mod, no lights to worry about, and they have full adjust-ability unlike the buckets. They are also very comfortable for extended trips. I bought a set of GT3 take outs that have the Alcantara inserts. Watch the GT3 forum and ask new owners if you can buy their stock seats when they upgrade to racing seats.

larry what's the "small wiring connector mod" that is required to make the 997 sport seats fully functional?

It's just the plastic connectors from the 996TT and the 997 that are not compatible, so you have to clip them off and splice the wiring, or use new connectors that fit each other.

Thanks Larry for the great suggestion.

I'll post something on the GT3 forum. BTW, would the regular 997 seats fit as well?

They will fit but the bolsters probably won't be as good for the track.

I would not get carbon tubs for your car. They are difficult to get in and out of the car. Plus if you are at all big, you wont be confortable once you get in them. I would go with the 997 sport seats like others have suggested.

I would personally look into the 997 sport seats, as others have suggested above. That is my own plan for a future upgrade as well since it's a nice upgrade with virtually no downsides.

Sounds like the right way to go. Anyone has a set of 997 sport seats for sale? BTW, is there a moderator out there that would help me post a WTB for these seats in the proper forum? I don't have enough posts yet. Thanks!
