I need advice

My car is going to need a center radiator. My questions is this the dealer wants about $1250 for this fix does this seem high. I did find an OEM radiator online for $285.

Ask if the labor includes training a new mechanic?
tell them you will give them 3 hours worth of work at $110 per hour plus the part and see what they say.

$1250 is a lot

While I am in NO way justifying the cost, it does take a while to bleed these systems and they may have the car a day or 2 running it and driving it to get the air out out of the cooling system....

They are probably charging list for the radiatior which is around 400-450 and then 8hrs labor at $100 an hour or so...pretty close...it can be done cheaper...

that much for a radiator? he found one for $300. But I agree on labor. seems like everything is 8 hours.

If the dealer has the vacuum assist machine that changes coolant, it is a 30 minute job for the flush.

Here is the break down Total for the job $1220. $126 in parts $728 for the radiator and $366 in labor. I called my friend who owns a body shop he said the labor on the radiator books out for 1.8 hours. He said his cost from the dealer for the radiator $660. I called a few Radiator places and they all have aftermarket radiators for around $280 but the part number everyone sells is 99610603773 this is for a Turbo. My car calls for a 99610603775 and no one has it.

I put in a claim to my insurance since the damage was a projectile my comp. will cover it. I went with the dealer the radiator will be gauranteed for five years parts an labor. Plus no one had an after market radiator for my car.

What's different about your car? What's special?
