Stock to stock: If the TT driver can drive, the TT will win 0-100. After that, the M6 will pull away.

Maybe against a stock TIP, but not against a manual TT driver that can actually drive.

From a roll would be a different story, however.

+1

0-100 will be a drivers race.

Over 100, the M6 pulls.
Despite the 3909 lb weight of the M6, the V10 gives it the advantage at the higher speeds.

Get a flash and exhaust and the story changes.

Yeah 500 HP in the M6, plus great top end aerodynamics = a Car that is shockingly fast from 100+ mph up. Derestricted but no other mods can hit 200 mph+

996 is tip, m6 is auto with paddles..

Both a disdvantage I presume... This is round one.

I know from 1st hand experience (and I'm not a bad driver) that the M6 from a stand still will have traction issues, the TT will pull off the line based on that... but the rest of the time, the M6 will be pulling, slowly but surely. I know from a roll, the M6 will win against a stock TT as well because my car was a stage 2 modded TT and was pretty even against a stock M6. Just from my personal experience... my advice, get a good jump from the dig because you will definitely need it.

The m6 ran with your k24/18g???? Uh oh!!!

I thought for sure that a turbo upgrade would be my hidden ace card.

no, let me clarify... when I said stage 2... it was on stock K16 turbos, but just flash and exhaust. The turbo upgrade made my car significantly faster...my 60-130 was about 10 seconds previously, the K24/18G upgrade has seen cars get into the high 6's...I never ran an M6 after the turbo upgrade but I'm positive that would've been a very different race. :P

I just sold my E60 M5 with BMC filters, RPI scoops, RPI pulley, and secondary cats deleted with B&B mufflers for a 997 TT. I ran my M5 against my buddy's stock 997 TT from a dig with traction off, S6, in M500 mode and stayed ahead of him till 130 when he pulled on me. I don't think I would have caught him till well above 180. I am doubtful that the same M5 will have the same run on my 997 TT with EVOMsit running 570hp. The M5 was difficult to mod past what I did (35hp for $3200) without considerable money invested. My 997 TT has only cost me $2500 for the ECU flash which yielded 90hp with 93 oct fuel and 100hp with race fuel - I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

I dumped an M6 in November for my TT. I can guarantee you the TT will blow away the M6 any day. The SMG is slow in shifting and you have MAJOR traction issues...

I was amazed at the power "put to the ground" the TT does compared to the M6. Also, I just came from the M driving school in Spartanburg, SC and came to realize how poor the SMG really is. Their DCT which is in the new M3, is a whole different story. Like I've said before, give me an M6 with DCT, AWD and a hardtop convertible and I will have to look very closely at it again. We have a BMW dealer here in town and the nearest P dealer is 5 hrs away. I also own a '10 750Li (450hp biturbo) so I've got a lot of experience with bimmers.

John

PS, I guess I'm a bimmer guy since I've owned a 79 3series, 87 5 series, "02 330i, M coupe, X3, 650i, M6 and new 7 series!

I drove the M5 to a 12.1 @ 115.8 dead stock. (M6 is faster) On the street your awd will take care of the first 60 mph, but after that you better hope you have a strong running tip.

Close call, but I'd say if driven correctly the M6 has you by 100-110.

Also, you others are forgeting the M6 has launch control making it easy to launch without tire spin; however, at the track it was by far the slowest way to launch the car. Good luck!

_Zac

I agree with Zac a little. However, launch control (on USA cars) only bumps the throttle up to 1700 instead of the European M6 to the 4000rpm that is needed. Also, If you use launch control more than 10-11 times, the company starts to look at your warranty a little more closely. I did it only a couple of times and there were some weird smells coming out from under the car. Some guys on M5board have had their warranty modified for using launch control all the time. A little harsh... I don't know why they put it on there if it's too hard on the tranny?
I'm just saying the Porsche "feel" is WAY DIFFERENT and it seems a lot faster. I never took my M to the track, though.

John
