That sucks man. I've had no issues with my Conti Sport Contact 2's.

As far as the chipped wheels, absolutely no excuse. They should pay to get that repaired.

That's just some a-hole being careless.... I bet he didnt even notice he did it. I had the same thing on my 996TT with the 547R
after I blew a tire and had to get one at wheel works.. all four rims around the lugs were chipped.....

sorry to see that....

Those are just a few of the chips and scatches that are on all four of the wheels. My information about the "out of round" problem comes from a very reliable source. That is not even the issue. I was told not asked where to have the tires mounted. Both my retailer and I advocated for lucent to do the work. Michelin was told the wheels were brand new and HRE's yet they insisted the work should be done at America's Tires.

At this point I have to move on and pursue reparations either with Michelin and/or America's Tires.

Life goes on and eventually I will have my wheels and tires back on and ready to go. Hopefully without the initial vibration problem .
In light of recent world events, I have regained my perspective on my wheel problems as hardly worth mentioning. Nonetheless, I cannot deny my aggrivation.
Thanks for all the kind words. It is apparent that many of you can relate to my frustration.

Damon,

It was a "rim clamp" machine. That was why I was so concerned to begin with.

Arling and Tom used a torque wrench and treated the wheels like they were their own.

the bolt holes on HREs are pretty tight though esp. if you use the stock bolts...
I agree carelessness is not excuseable though

As Eric said get in touch with the President. **** will eventually roll down hill. If that does not work, file small claims. I think that will get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Hey Damon:

I have had several Michelin's from Tirerack be out of round. Granted you guys replaced them but Michelin does make mistakes.

Headdoc, For the very reasons you show I try to do most of my tire changes myself, at least the R&R of the wheels. I use a soft socket and tape the socket to prevent scratching of the bolt hole bore. I support the socket with my free hand to minimize the possibility of contact and subsequent chipping and never use air tools, only a breaker bar and torque wrench for reinstall.

My Pcar dealer is just as careful with my wheels. I don't know if that is due to their knowledge that I am VERY **** regarding such things or that they just care. I have never had a mark on my wheels when they change my tires. I guess I am very fortunate.

Shops like Lucent (and others) understand the mentality of exotic car owners and provide superior service at every level. It is truly unfortunate that Michelin doen't seem to understand there is a difference between owners and shops.

I'm not saying Michelin is perfect, just much better than average.

Arling, when are you coming up here to change my tires. I can't count on Alex. Flashing is all he wants to do right now.

I have had nothing but problems with PS2's and will never EVER buy them again. Michelin denied my claim when I had ALL FOUR tires get mulitple bubbles with no damage inside from potholes or anything!! This was all within 200 miles of them being in my car... Thanks Michelin out 1500 bux

Boy, with all this bad press for PS2, I'm not sure if I'd purchase another set again when the time comes. So far so good for me with 6k miles.
