Just to clarify this situation:

I am actually Steve's retailer in this situation. The wheels/tires were balanced on a Hunter machine and they balanced perfectly. However, due to a time issue with the HRE's being 6 weeks late, we did not perform the road force testing and/or lateral/radial runout testing, as we did have some faith in the Michelin tires. The wheels were shipped to Arling where the installation was performed. A few days later, a vibration was noticed and the wheels/tires were brought back to Arling for testing, upon which he notified me of the problem. A phone call was placed to Michelin, upon which the rep asked that the car be brought over to their nearest approved shop for their own diagnostic (America's Tire of Woodland Hills). After testing, the tires were indeed deemed to be defective, upon which replacements were ordered and Steve was scheduled for a Friday delivery/installation. Please note that the first time the wheels/tires were off the car for the diagnosis, the technician was very careful and no damage occured. Upon Steve's return Friday, the replacement tires were installed and this is where the carelessness occured with a different technician.

The real purpose for this post is the following:

1. I would like to thank Steve for his never-ending patience with this set of wheels. I will make it right for you in the long run.

2. I would like to thank the Tire Rack cust service dept for their gracious assistance with this matter. This particular set of PS2s were purchased thru TR wholesale. They have gone above and beyond the call.

3. I would like to thank Arling for his assistance with the initial diagnosis and his offer of help.

4. I would like to note that this is the 2nd set of 19" PS2s I have reported THIS WEEK that have had out-of-round issues.

5. Either Michelin or America's Tire or I will cover the cost of refinishing (painting centers and repolish lips) from HRE, plus incidentals. If they do not step up to the plate I will cover it myself. My guess is that since the job was assigned by Michelin to America's Tire and that they did not want either myself nor Lucent involved in the warranty, the America's Tire will be found liable.

Thank you for your attention.

One more thing to note - it appears MOST of the damage occured simply during the removal/re-installation of the wheels on and off the car, with what appears to be a impact wrench use with a large socket. The scratches on the lip are surface and should be easily buffed out. It does not appear that the damage occured during the mounting/dismounting of the tires.

**sigh**

Peter has been great through this whole experince even after my meltdown while we were discussing the damage done by America's Tires.

Absolutely none of this was his fault yet he is the one person who is willing to stand by his products and keep his consumer happy. Michelin should consult with Peter on sound and ethical business practices.

No to go off topic but this phrase strikes me as funny, especially the "ethical" part. "Ehtical" has become the exception rather than the rule in today's business.

P.S. I am in no way being critical of the business practices of lee2375, just making a little joke.
