Porsche replaced engine
Porsche replaced engine
The engine in my 911 is going to be replaced by porsche. Does this increase the value, decrease the value or does it have no change in the value?

Consuming a large amount of oil. Cylinders 4 and 6 are showing reduced compression. 225 instead of 275 I was told. I don't know if 275 is accurate or not. I assume this also makes my car a lot slower. Maybe someone could speculate on the decreased performance, or what I could expect after the repair.
In my experience it doesn't affect the value. Any buyer gets an engine with that much less mileage on it. How many miles are you at now?
There could be oil fouling the valves and causing the loss of compression since they're not seating properly. Just one man's opinion...
As for after the repair, you'll have to break in the engine, which is a bit of a pain. Otherwise, the car should be better than before!

OK let's see.
2 quarts every 200 to 400 miles.
I want to keep the car a long time, but concerned over loss of value due to replaced engine.
I think the use of oil coupled with the stain on my garage floor and the loss of compression= problem. Clearly not normal.

neil,
since u're going to replace it anyways just don't worry about the value. enjoy the car is the most important thing now. u will be questioned but i don't think it's gonna hurt anything.

It would not bother me as long as the work was done well.

If you were buying a car and they told me the engine was replaced, it might raise flags and cause me to hesitate and perhaps look to another car.
In other words, if the two cars were identical(one with engine replaced one with original engine). Both with low miles. I would want the car with no history of problems. Right?
