Angry $550 fuel pump??

I cant believe the fuel pump is $550. Has anyone been able to source a cheaper solution/route? I need this since my TT has lost fuel pressure from the pump and won't run anymore.

The pump, yes. Filter, not really. I believe it's located at the left side of the engine bay behind coolant tank cap(s).

Filter replacement is not difficult, you just have to work in some pretty cramped space. It makes it a lot easier if you drop the engine down a couple of inches, but it can be changed without doing so.

Have you taken apart the sender unit in a tank? There is a small piece of hose that is frequent to go out and cause this. I'd look into that before the pump. Do a search I've seen a couple of posts here on this subject.

even if it is the hose that went out, he has to change the whole unit because Porsche won't sell just the hose. You want the hose? You need to buy the fuel pump with it...

I'd just fabricate the hose.

yeah thought about it but then if it fails at one point, it might fail somewhere else due to age and fuel starvation was not something i wanted to mess with, especially since it is very hard to find a good hose to go in the tank, always soaked in fuel.

And there is a lot of hose in the tank, one heck of a spaghetti.
