Straight pipes ????
I got a killer deal on some hollowed out cats and 3" straight pipes w/ Vband connectors. ( I think that is what they are called? ) from Todd at vivid. I can't wait to get them on the car!
I drilled out 2, 1 7/8" holes ( TJW mod ) in the OEM muffler and it helped some but it's just to quite. I hope to get them on real soon, maybe next weekend?

Have fun

I know it will be loud. I have not had a Porsche w/ straight pipes but I have had other cars w/ them. Baja Bugs w/ tepee type headers to a stinger w/ no baffle; or 2 open headers one on each side, Chevy 350 w/ straight pipes all the way back from the headers. So I have been around some loud exhaust. Some of the were engines bigger and some smaller.
If I don't like it I'll just change it out and only use them for weekend stuff. But I got these cheaper then a 3" straight pipe and flange would cost me new. Heck he couldn't get 1 of the O2 sensors off and I got that as well.
It's all good. But I may take your suggestion and just keep some ear plugs in the car.

I run my AWE straight pipes with no cats and have no problems with it. Just don't try to have a phone conversation, or personal conversation, or think straight (just kidding). It's just you and the car.
I'm still dreaming about Marski's exhaust though. Got a few other things to do first though.

The only thing that worries me at this point is hearing my wife complain about the new sound level. I am probably going to wait to put them on till she gets her new car in a few months so she will be in my car a lot less.
Is the sound over whelming at low, slow speeds like real easy city driving or at idle?
Honestly, I just hate how quite my car is and we both don’t like the drone that is has between 1700 and 2300 RPMs when I am just cruising or the car is lugging down a little.

We've done this setup for a few customers and although I generally have a high tolerance for loud exhausts, I can honestly say I would NEVER be able to deal with it on a daily basis!! It's not so much the volume of the exhaust, but the constant droning that will eventually (in maybe 20 minutes) drive you crazy! And I'm not talking about minor droning in a few 100's of the rpm range.....we're talking constant, deep, shake your brain kind of drone.
So do you run straight pipes as well?
