Interstate Battery Vent
Interstate Battery Vent
I replaced my original battery today with an Interstate MTP-91. It was a super price and fit great. But, the original vent hose does not fit on the battery. The Interstate battery's vent is an oval shape and is a bit too large to just wedge the old hose on (it probably wouldn't seat well even I could force it on).
1) I know from my searches that others have put this battery in and wondered how you adapted the hose.
2) What would happen if I just did not hook the vent tube back up?
Thanks in advance. I am also pleased to say that by disconnecting the battery my recent NAV System Error went away so for once everything is working in proper order. Now I can get back to my mods.

Hey man, i just replaced my stock battery for this same interstate model... where did you buy it? you will need them to give you an adaptor piece that connects from the battery vent to the actual vent coming from the car. I got mine directly from an interstate battery seller and had to ask about the vent. Rang a bell in their heads and they grabbed the connector piece from the back for me.
Thanks guys. 6speeders are batting a thousand on helping me out. I went back to the local parts store I bought the battery from and asked them about the adaptor piece. In "all my years" of experience they had never heard of such a thing but after I told him I just spoke with someone with the same car and same battery he got on the phone with his vendor and had the piece to me in 15 minutes.
As a side note, when I swapped batteries I did not have to enter a radio code to get it back. This was contrary to my prior experience and knowledge. It kept all my radio presets and had the correct time.

^^ yea i never had to enter in my codes either after the swap. got me on that one haha.
Glad you found the part too. Better to do it right the first time then try to rig it to work and have to worry about it down the road.
