Forum Wars Continued: GTR vs 996
You are absolutely right that the driver is the one that makes the car quick or slow around the circuit. But so far only one (obviously modded, but mine is modded as well) GT-R has passed me (he had about the same speed, but was trying too hard and I didn't want a collision, my turbo is a daily driver). I have lost count of the GT-R's I have passed over there. My car is not heavelly modded, but it can handle the GT-R's fine running with MPSC. So my point is that you shouldn't underestimate the 996 turbo.
The GT-R is very quick, but one shouldn't excaturate... it is not faster there then every other Porsche. The GT3RS is quicker, I am sure the Turbo and the Turbo S will be quicker and the new GT2 will be quicker as well.

Everyone here is so fast to go and throw the 3-way JRZ's, aeromotions and hp at the GT-R's we haven't seen any setting any spectacular times over here. Certainly not stock ones. You put 30-40-50k in a car you can make anything fast.
AMS IMO is one of the top if not the best IN THE COUNTRY. Tym can tune his butt off, but I don't think Swizter does half of the stuff that AMS does with fabrication, engine builds, chassis modification and actually kicking butt and taking names in their own cars. If I'm not mistaken Swizter may be purely bolt-on tuning. Not that there is anything wrong with that if he's one of the best at that single aspect. But you can't ignore the big picture.

Brent,
I'm up to meet new non hostile people like I said before, and you seem like a nice guy. You have the upper hand of 100awhp and tq on me.
My company is currently acquiring another, as soon as i know i have free time, i'm game. I will be modifying my suspension much more in order to make up for the lack of hp you have over me. I was thinking, would you be up for laguna seca ? its a world known track with tons of heritage, and we can compare our cars to what 'pros' can drive it. I would really prefer laguna if possible. I drove to fontana already for the forum wars, and it was a long drive for me. If we do laguna, i can convince Mr. Graham to come out with his GT2 996 as well, as I would like to go up against him. Honestly, he is my next target ( sorry Graham! Friendly fire
) and i'm over the GTR ordeal. I have set my sights on one hella of a driver and car with Graham. If you need a place to stay, I live aprox 30 mins from Laguna Seca, and you are more then welcome to stay at my place.
What are your mods if you don't mind sharing...
I will have the following mods if we do an event;
997ssk
X50 brake setup
964 lwfw
UMW flash
Adjustable front and rear control arms.
GT3 seats
Ruf springs - 225lbs front 325lbs rear
R comps
I would realisticly like to have by then;
x73 package motor mounts
rear toe lings
solid bushings
997tt transmission mount
Dez's old coilovers if Dez gets his new ones
( I cannot run straight pipes at laguna)
So as you can see, i'm tackling the cornering ability vs straight line power, which is huge at laguna seca.
As for track days. I do not know how many I have with my 996tt, but its not over 20....i do have my Professional racing license and I have been karting since i was a kid and have participated in several karting championships. As for representation, i only represent myself and whomever sponsors me too.

Anyway, I live in San Diego. As much as I'd love to run Laguna Seca sometime, it is way too much of a hike for me. As such, I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want to come down to Fontucky (again). Big Willow looks to be about half way between.
Regarding mods, I will list them. But it seems you have the best mod of all: the driver mod. I've never karted and have only done 12 track days in my life. You have a professional racing license?! Shinkaze's quoted lap time at big Willow is 4 seconds faster than me, and he was stock. Of course, he has road racing experience, as well. I've only done two days at big Willow. Given my lack of experience, I don't see my extra 100 hp being a threat, but if you do further mods, no problem. I will have a couple more by then, as well (previously planned).
Here are my mods: AAM V1 intake, HKS plugs, Forge actuators, AAM catted downpipes, Titek resonated midpipe, HKS Legamax exhaust, AP Racing J hook rotors, Carbotech XP10 pads, Stillen stainless brake lines, and Stillen sway bars.
My suspension is bone stock. I track on the OEM Dunlop runflat tires. I have no aftermarket aero or lighter parts. My car is full weight at 3850 lbs. The car is dyno tuned via the Cobb Access Port to about 540 awhp and 560 awtq.
Additional mods I will have by the end of May are: AMS intercooler, Harmon Motive intercooler piping, Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors, Walbro fuel pumps, and HB Speed large MAF intakes. These are just to protect the engine at extremes of temperature, but retuning may release a bit more power.
I am undergunned in Redline Time Attack mod AWD. My competition has from 550 to 800 hp.
And I need to pick up the pace at Cal Speedway next month.Let me know if big Willow will work for you.
Brent
Just looked at mapquest, and I stand corrected. BW not in the middle, per se, but it is closer to the middle than Willow Springs.
However, I won't be able to do a Speed Ventures Buttonwillow event until September or October, given the RTA schedule...and the price of tires and brake pads, lol.

Just trying to be helpful. I think it's great you guys are going to lengths to compare cars, and actually do something rather than sit behind a computer and talk like most people do. The event at button willow is June, and is about the cheapest event you will find, I will be trying to get my car out there as well so if you guys go, there will be at least 1 spectator with video (me).

Buttonwillow is a fun track. I've only done three days there. Three days at BW equals a set of front brake pads and a set of front tires, lol.

My take is that I don't follow the marketing of either companies. Real world testimony from people that know what they are talking about, shop reputation, and shop philosophy is what's more valuable in the decision making process..... There is no best as that's highly subjective.
Couldn't be further from the truth....but par for the course with many of your posts. Come by Switzer's and do the comparison yourself - he has just about every other tuners parts off of prior customer cars and you can make your own educated judgement afterwards. Then look at their assembly room and he can walk you through why his motors stay together. He'll even teach you some machining tricks if you want. He's that type of guy!

The only par is your switzer nutlicking which is sickening........
I'm a fan of them too, but you're constant slobering is pitiful. I guess all the other tuners should just quit now huh.
LOL, heavy, in all seriousness, you're a fu**ing idiot, but that was funny.

I simply said come visit his shop and make your judgement before typing away bull**** like you always do. Just the fact you posted the previous thread shows everyone how uneducated you really are about Switzer. So keep up the good work!
