2003 996tt and blue smoke

I recently picked up a 2003 996tt with 45k miles. I noticed after letting car sit for 30-60min I get a puff or 1-3 seconds of blue and I think white smoke on start up. Its happened a few times now but not every time.
Is this normal oil consumption? Or should I have this looked at (still have warrantly). I assume it would be covered...

Valve seals is my educated guess. Shouldn't happen on a car with just 45k miles, more like a, hrm wait, every Ford with 60k miles and up.

It's normal. Many threads on this. Some cars do it, some don't. Porsche even states that it should/may use 1qt every 800-900 miles or so. Again, some use less to none and some use more. I think it was said it had a lot to do with being a horizontal engine and oil hanging out in places it normally doesn't on other engines.

do you get the smoke every time you start it up? and is the smoke blue or whitish? the occasional puff of smoke upon start up is normal with the porsches .

it is definitely blue and not every time. but i cant say for sure as I didnt notice until someone pointed it out...
would it be the turbo bearings?
The oil was recently changed too, maybe overfill...but doubt it as the was a porsche dealer that did it.
i guess it should be covered under warrantly without issue

Let the car idle for a bit before shutting down,

20-30 seconds should be enough.

I've noticed that if I let the car idle at 1500 rpms for 20-30 seconds before shutting it down (specially if the car's been on boost, even part throttle boost), I get no smoke 99% of of the time on start-up

Mine has 9k miles on it and I've seen it do it. My 02 Carrera did it from time to time as well. So I just figured it was a Porsche thing

Mine smokes badly. Most of it comes from the tires in 3rd or 4th gear though.

Seriously no smoke and I own 4 fords. Wait I just sold one make that 3.

Normal.
Try to let it cool the spool and idle for a minute after boosting and before shutoff.
Also, don't overfill the oil. Guaranteed to do it then especially if you park it with a bit of a nose up attitude.

A dealer? I think they will tell you you need a new engine and it's not under warranty!!!
