I Love This Car!
SubscribeOK, so I get all ready to install Bluetooth in my 01 TT. I crack open the cover on the right side of the gas pedal. I'm thinking, I need Battery, Switched power and a ground. As soon as I pull the cover, I see this...

Does anyone know what this is???
I measure the voltage and find that the Red is Battery, the green is switched power and the brown is ground. How lucky is that?
So I tapped into that connector, but I would like to know what the connector was originally for.... Anyone?

If it is what I think ,it is switched/unswitched power for the cell phone option. It is there on all cars. Others use it for radar power. I used it to power a Tire Presure Monitoring System...and I love this car also

I'm using the Motorola IHF1000. I had it in my G35 before the 911 and I loved it. I don't have it integrated into the stereo because I'm not that sure about switching to double-din, but the unit is capable if you want to do that.
What I love about the IHF1000 is that almost everything is voice controlled. The only other major competitor is the Parrot units and they require you to spin a **** to select menu items. With the IHF1000, you just press the big button to let it know you want to talk, then you tell it what you want to do. If you don't know the command at any point, you just say: "Help". It comes with a pretty big speaker that I mounted under the dash above the fuse panel. If I get ambitious, I'll connect the radio mute button to kill the stereo when a call comes in, but I found on my G35 that it was loud enough that I never needed to connect the mute wire.
There is only one control that needs to be accessible by the driver. Everything else is hidden behind the dash. I mounted the little control in the ashtray so I could close the ashtray and the car would still be completely stock. Here is my install...

OK, confirmed - the yellow wire is the radio mute. Not only does it mute the radio, but it writes: "PHONE" on the Nav display. Too cool - and way to easy for this upgrade.
That means there must be an audio in somewhere on the back of the deck for the phone system to broadcast voice through the factory speakers.....can anyone solve for this? If so, we can easily integrate bluetooth capability in this car
I'm thinking that if Porsche was expecting the phone to have audio out, those two wires would have been included in the harness (pic 1) so it would be totally plug and play. I'd also bet I could tap into the Nav audio with those wires if I could find out where they were.
