Installing an AMS Billet K16 kit this weekend on a 996TT
Ok, First, Do you like the AP exhaust? How loud at 75mph, how about drone...
Now how do you like the Lotus, I am looking at the Esprit torbo V8 as well, any advice, likes, dislikes, how long have you had it...And of course I want to see the dyno on those new turbos!!!
If you want a Lotus Esprit, you better be 5'8 or shorter...I had a 97 Esprit and I hated it. I still thing it is a beautiful car, but WAY too small for the average guy. Seat doesn't go back far enough, pedals too close together etc...
Rolando
Sorry all for the lack of updates, the owner had the coolant loss fixed, it was one of the fittings that has a habit of coming loose. He's been driving it as installed and it's working pretty good. No dyno yet though, he owns one and still hasn't done it lol
He recently ordered the upgrades from AMS, larger injectors new tune and EPL's Aquamist water/meth injection. I've been busy installing the water/meth system with guidance from EPL (which has been very good support)
I just pulled the injectors last night...while not impossible to do it was still a fun evening
We will be getting this car dyno'd once competed, he did order a sachs motorsport GT2 clutch setup (I think that's what it is) The current clutch is holding up fine, but with this new upgrade we know it will need to be done.
I personally don't like the AP exhaust, it's drones way to much for me, but that's pretty typical of independent exhaust pairings
I really like my Esprit, one thing that has to be understood is that most of the issues are way blown out of proportion. With proper care and handling the cars are quite easy to own. Now that being said, if you like to drag launch, or bang shifts or do top speed runs you'll have problems with the gearbox/axles.
I tracked mine a fair bit, had a piston failure (cast pistons). Currently rebuilding the engine and modifying it quite a bit. (forged pistons, upgraded GT turbos, porting the heads)
PM me and we can discuss it some more
^ agreed, I'm 5'8 and the biggest complaint I have is the pedal space, very tight if you have bigger then size 9-10 feet, forgetaboutit...haha

the engine case in the photos looks like it has been rebuilt, none of the sealant germany puts on the cases remains and its not easy to come off.
wish you luck on the install happy boosting.

not always could be a reman ive been coming across that aftermarket warranties are trying to use.
it could be a built bottom end and be all bad *** or it could be just stock but an observation. Dont want this guy turning up the boost and having a failure thinking its stronger then stock.
All completed finally, lots of misc projects on this car done all at the same time.
Installed the Aquamist water/meth system, this was actually quite allot of work especially running the wiring and water lines, ensuring the drilled holes were only done once (front trunk). Wiring into the ecu harness was straightforward thanks to the help from Tony at EPL.
Pulled the front driveshaft as well, we'll see how the clutch holds up, already have the new clutch, will be installing it this week. Then we shall see how it does on the dynojet.

Tank and pump in the trunk, going to build a cover around everything to protect the lines from items put in the trunk in the future.

Put the Aquamist guage in the centre console, while it was apart I installed a 997TT shifter assembly and a Blinder laser jammer system.

Another one of those 'while your in there...' jobs
This one was a royal PITA, mostly because it didn't come with the front mount inserts. I made up some in the lathe with off centre bolt hole to easy installation. Nice piece, glad its in and done...

See the water/meth injection solenoid below the air box inlet

Water/meth injectors and lines installed in y-pipe.
Also installed the larger 72# injectors, some issues with them. The middle one on each bank would hit the turbocharger support mount. Due to the injectors having an adapter between the wiring and the injector. Suggested to modify the fuel rail to clearance this, I preferred to modify the injector adapter. I also found the injectors to be a tad shorter, and wasn't comfortable with the o-ring seating into the intake manifold with the rail installed. I reused the stock o-rings which are fatter.

Stock injector on left 72# injector on Right these are lined up at the fuel rail clip groove.

My adapter, cut up an old injector and the adapter then soldered it to the leads. Filled the gaps with JB weld.

injector adapter as delivered, wire lead could not go on.

My adapter modified to fit, worked out great.
Having a issue loading the new flash, will contact EPL tomorrow to see what I'm doing wrong
Can't wait see how she performs

Installed the new flash, thanks for the call Robin much appreciated. Car runs great and this is just a base tune. Only seeing 0.9 bar and the acceleration and drive-ability is excellent. Will do some Durametric logs tonight on the back road to sent to EPL. So far the clutch is holding fine, but once the full boost tune goes in it will probably be curtains for it...
Not seeing anything on the Aquamist gauge, I figure it probably wont try to inject anything until past the current boost level. Car feels allot stronger then mine though as is. I'm running a 1.1bar flash on the stock (i think) turbos, EVOMS intake, billet diverters and stock exhaust.
