996 GT2....ownership experiences? How dangerous?
A lightened, RWD 996TT without a LSD is quite tame....but indeed feels like a GT2 on the street.

RWD mod is the best mod I ever made to my TT. Really wakes the car up.
Now it can take corners, and it feels faster and more savage, it really wants to hit the rev limiter. But it requires more attention when under full throttle....
Well, well.... my GT2. Being somewhat of "Mid-life' age, I asked the wife: What is it going to be...?... The bike...the car...the younger woman I don't want...! I had Sports cars all my professional life and got a little bored with my Cl 55AMG and the Carrera. I thought ... there has to be a car, somewhat affordable (you can get one with 10k mls for about 75K), that will make one feel A-LIFE. So the search began... Don't get me wrong, among the Porsche's, the TT is a blast..., but it's a little too nice. The GT2 on the other hand... You'll be in for a RIDE...ENJOY... you will never look back.
There's really nothing technical I can add to the excellent comments that have already been posted. 80shilling was right on with what he stated, and he has much more racing/HP driving experience than me.
I'm just a car buff who decided that the GT2 would be the most fun, and man was I right! The car is awesome, there's really nothing out there quite like it. There are other HP cars, but somehow, even though some may be newer, faster and more technologically advanced, the GT2 is more special. It is one of the rarest cars on the planet, and even though the 996 GT2 is getting old, its so bad *** that the years only make it more desirable. When people say "they don't build them like that anymore" they are describing the 996 GT2.
You know how with a favorite car, the more you drive it, the friendlier and more predictable it gets? Well, with the GT2, no matter how familiar it gets, there's always a unsettling sense that when it's pressed, the car may do something you're not expecting because it does not feel you are worthy.
If you're smart about it and understand that the GT2 is a little more eager to kill you than most other cars, you should be fine.

Hello! I am keeping the NSX (hopefully forever). As much as I love it, I want to have something else to get my blood pumping. The NSX is a wonderful handling car, but it never hurts to have variety. Also, the thrill of a car with raw power and that rewards proper real driving (without the aid of electronic nannies) is what I like.
