996 GT2....ownership experiences? How dangerous?
a gt2 at dry and warm condtions with good alignment, setup, tires isnt danger do drive, but the driver can`t put the throttle down without experience. (996tt with AWD and good mods.....you need experience to drive near the same)
if the street conditions are wet, you be in trouble..... every 4wd 996tt comes out the corner without psm better....and if PSM is on he do it without any problems..that is the price you have to pay with a special high grip condition setup like a gt2.....at wet conditions i would say "YES" it is a dangerous car.
same is with a GT3 against a GT3 RS (at wet condition the GT3 is faster as a GT3RS)

I would put my bets however on a 996 GT2 versus a trailing arm suspension 930 as far as which one would be better at saving you from meeting an untimely demise! An MZ3 is another car with power and a trailing arm suspension that feels like it literally is going to kill you!

So....I just followed up with someone on GT2 ownership experiences, and they told me that a full brake job is $20,000 ($5,000 per corner)!! Is this correct? Is it possible to use the standard non-carbon ceramic brakes on a GT2?
The other option as you state, is to go to conventional rotors and there are myriad choices in that area, from Girodisk to Brembo etc, etc. There are a ton of posts on this issue here and on Rennlist Forums as well. Quite a few people who track their Cars will do the swap from ceramic PCCB's to steel brakes.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.
A brand new full set of Ceramic rotors DOES cost $16K !!!! I bought a second set as a backup just in case.. cost me $4k with only a few hundred miles on them, so that's one option to consider to save money.

Just think its 50% off from a Ferrari ceramic break job
yes.. in fact, in early 02s, pccb delete was an option. I am fortunate enough to own one of those cars!
In MY opinion, the non-pccb brakes are MUCH better for a street driven car. Early gen 1 pccbs suck, so if you want the ceramics, make sure you get a gen 2 set.
saw it in person...black 02 gt2 but it was the sold the day i was there, about 2 weeks ago...
