Why is this such a surprise? I've been crushing higher hp cars with an automatic.

seriously though, the second race the ZR1 beat the 997tt so I don't think the turbo raped the ZR1 by any means. They are very close lets leave it at that.

I wonder why in the second race the Turbo let the ZR1 get a head start?? Thats a classic street racing no no when the camera is rolling.

the PDK does everything and if you put a not so good driver in the zr1 the hp doesn't count so much

Yes, the PDK IS the equalizer. The Porsche doesn't defy physics, neither did the GT-R when it came out, beating higher HP cars with less weight. The dual clutch transmission is the way of the future.

I also agree that the 998tt w/PDK will beat the C6 ZR-1 more convincingly, but then there may be another model 'Vette coming out as well.

997TT PDK. EVOM'S Mustang dyno. 997.1 TTs make 420 on the same dyno.

Against a car with considerably more power and less weight? I think it performed extremely well. If you've ever raced a car as fast as a stock ZR1, I think you'd change your mind.

Regardless, what the video clearly shows is that unless the ZR1 owner can:

A. Drive his car very well, and...
B. Is 100% ready for the race...

...he may get his a$$ yanked by a stock PDK TT.

1. Damn, the PDK is VERY impressive...
2. In the first race, it was clear to me that the PDK is simply faster 30-130 (or so) and the ZR1 is faster 130+ where sheer HP and aero come into play.
3. In the second race, the ZR1 got a car length head start AND jumped...not a fair race and once the ZR1 jumped ahead, it never looked back.

After driving EVOMS modded 997 TT PDK (and I am less than a year from turning 50),
I qualify for the PDK (I also have had 7 manually shifted Porsche including the old
cable actuated crap) and look forward to owning one someday. Did you see on the second run, he just left it in auto mode ?? LOL This side by side running with much more powerful car is pretty convincing.
