Steel pipes crushed near right hand front jacking point ???
Steel pipes crushed near right hand front jacking point ???
Hi all,
Any help please on this topic as I have found that a trolly Jack has been used to jack the car and damaged a pipe. Front right jacking point.
There are 2 steel pipes one about 10mm and the other about 16mm ( ish)thet run together.
The large one has been flattened by about 30%.
Any ideas on what the pipe is for. No leaks that I can see.
There are no pipes close to the left hand front jacking point.
Cheers in advance,
Frank.
ps still waiting for my Turbos to be completed.
Oil & vent pipes all renewed. Long story.
New plugs, drive belt, oil change, new discs & pads all round, fluid changed..... the list goes on. Still needs the centre rad changed, bottom row corrosion.
As with most things on my car corrosion is a big thing.
Frank.
That all!

Embarrased to say I did the same thing.
After setting a jack stand under the pad I went to the other side and lifted there. The chassis is so stiff that the car lifted off the jack stand. It slipped sideways and I did not see it. When it settled back down on the relocated stand it crushed the pipes.
They are AC liquid and suction lines.
Cost me about $600.00 if I recall correctly.

I had the car on stands, when putting it back down the front jack stand seemed that it had moved and it flaten one of the rear brake line (Driver side).
I ordered the line today for 46 bucks...
Thanks for the replies,
The pipe is the Aircon return form the aircon rad.
As most have said, if its working leave it well alone. Had a chat with a friendly mechanic at PG, he said as many of you have, that its a common sight and if its not leaking do touch it.
The new pipe is about £85 + vat. Not so bad compared to some items I have already changed. Not including Lab or gass.
