Here are a few pictures taken by C&R Turbos. If cast turbos can corrode like this imagine what the rest of the piping and exhaust looked like.

ps They don't look like that now

I did tell you guys, Ive been along time in motor sport ( Cosworths ) and I have never seen corrosion this bad. That's why I ask all 996tt owners to check under theirs.
I honestly say the silencer was about 9 months form dropping off the back of the car.
ps to add to this the body is perfect, not a single sign of rust anywhere.
At last a good note

Hi RiA,
I have 2 recon aka New turbos from C&R should arrive tomorrow. ( The Turbine housings were OK so it was new internals, compressor housings, cores, actuators & rods and wastgates.
All pipe work ready.

I honestly don't know. I bought it from Porsche Glasgow in 2007.
If you have followed my posts you will have read that there are 3 year old 997tt going this way... be it slowly.
This amount of corrosion has started long before I bought it.
HOWEVER
From now on its stops. I am going to keep an eye on the back end.
As I have already stated earlier the rest of the car is mint. No rust at all.
All the discs corrode but that's normal. Just change them when required.
