Yet another cool down question...
Yet another cool down question...
I understand the warm up and the two minute cool down. No problem. But what about when you are running around doing errands. Stop at gas station, cool down 2 minutes? Zip over to the grocery store next, 2 minutes? Just curious about this kind of driving and if two minutes is recommended at each stop. Seems a bit like overkill, but I am protective of my turbos
.
Thanks in advance.

With the other turbocharged sports cars I had (RX-7 and Supra Turbo), if I didn't get into boost 3 - 5 minutes prior to making the stop, I would just let the car idle for up to 30 seconds before shutting her down. I think anything more is overkill.
I consider anything under 2500 RPM as cool down, so if my last 5 minutes of driving was under 2500, I consider it cooled down. My house is pretty deep in a residential neighborhood so I really can't get home without doing that.
Per Kevin at UMW, the oil flow/cooling of the turbos at idle is very different than any moving/velocity. I don't remember the "why", probably DME code.....but his main product is high end turbochargers....and I have never been steered wrong.
Errands stink ....I drop my 2m cool down to 1 minute IF I am getting back in the car in under a few minutes....like gas...and I have not been on boost for over 5 minutes. If I am on boost, I wait the 2m.
