New 991 GTS, Alcantara seats, or leather with cooling
New 991 GTS, Alcantara seats, or leather with cooling
I have a December build allocation on a 2016 GTS 991. I am going back and fourth on the Alcantara vs the cooled leather type seats.
The seat option was like 800 I think to add the cooling. Would you guys keep that option on the seats or would u stay true to the GTS Alcantara type seats. I live in NE and I have cooled seats on my pickup and rarely use them. I am more concerned with resale or what someone wants if they are buying the GTS. The car deviated a bit or one thats more true to the GTSs nature. I do like how the leather perforated cooled seats break up the interior a bit. That is the biggest thing, and the ease of wiping them down.
The other question is on the entry carbon fiber door sill lighting. Where the GTS emblem illuminates when you open the door. Should I delete that and keep it's original build or add it if I like it. That was 1700 I believe. But I don't want the car too optioned out either if I trade it in 5 years for possibly a GT3, if it has matured to my liking. I know you never get hardly anything back on many of the options.
Thanks

For me, leather is the way to go. I have leather in my GTS with cooling and I love it. As for the illuminated door sill - that is a waste of money - don't do it. I have heard that those things go bad fairly quickly. If you just have to have a light, get a ghost light for about $20.

I'm going to deviate from the responses here and suggest the GTS Alcantara package. I also have a GTS build that's currently in progress (December delivery!), and I opted for the Alcantara seats and the GTS interior package in Carmine Red.
I absolutely understand that different customers will opt for whatever they prefer, but a large part of the GTS's appeal to me is the interior package. It feels and looks absolutely amazing when you're sitting inside.
The cooled seats are fantastic in hot areas, but I'm willing to bypass that one creature comfort for the GTS.
Have you sat in a GTS with the Alcantara package? It may be worth driving to a dealer who has one before you make your decision.
And +1 to ditching the illuminated sills. I also considered it, but it's a waste of money IMO.

I have had both and prefer the leather plus cooling especially if the car will be driven regularly. If is a week end toy and you love the alcantara go with that.

Very good idea. It is a weekend warrior for sure. I farm so my main ride is my pick up.
I was a big fan of alcantara prior to getting a 991 with leather/cooling. I wanted alcantara wallpaper, underwear and pretty much wished the world was made of it. After having the cooling seats and driving the car in Houston with 90+ degree weather the past few weeks, I am glad it came with cooling seats

Not a great photo, but have a look at the illuminated CF sill in the 997TTS. Beautiful addition (expensive sure) especially in the evening when opening the door - really pops.
Enjoy the selection process!
