Brockway R1000 shift light problem?

In begining of the year, installed both with out an issue and was working. Shortly after, car went into the shop for few months. Just got it back, the shift light isn't working. Brockway unit untouched at workshop.

Checked connections at the R1000 side, OK. Still didn't work... I figured perhaps a loose connection at the LED side.

but this morning to my suprise it came on. Looked over at the Brokway and parameter readings read zero. The Obd2 plug was loose (had power but no signal), pushed the connection tight "initializing...." params back on but shift light stopped working!

may be it was a coincidence and problem is LED connection. Any of you that have the brockway R1k with shiftlight and have issues with it? TIA

jgood is infamous around these parts
The shift light itself is very susecptible to coming loose from vibration. I taped mine into the socket.

Do you have RPM's displayed on the unit?

yea RPM's reading.
doubtful the bulb blew, cos it didn't work, then it worked once and went off again.
I used electrical heat shrink around the connectors and zip tie... guess i'll take it apart and solder it. will let you guys know
got an idea for the bulb, put it the far end of a tube same diameter as bulb, it'll work something similar to this but will cut down on brightness when not directly pointed at eyes. can be mounted on it's own or to existing gauge pod.

thanks

.

OK totally figured this out!!

The brockway needs to be displaying RPM for the shift light to work.

Try it!

Ari,

That is how the older units work, but I was under the impression that the newest generation does not require the RPM mode for the SL100 to work.

yes ari, thanks for update. I realized this last week. clearly states this in the user manual, forgot about it. too bad because rpm display is redundant, and display is limited to 2 params.

for those in market for EBCs the blitz SBi think it's called has the same obd2 monitor functions which justify it's high cost for those considering a brockway and EBC.

HKS Camp 2 is another monitor for those with large LCD screens already.

not sure whether above mentioned jdm based obd2 readers can data log and clear codes, if so overlaps with the durametric as well.

Yes, contact Eric at Brockway. I believe he can do it and load in all the newest features, if you have the 1st run of the second generation (R1000 or R9000). I do not believe the R920 version can be upgraded.
