you must have some cool dealers in Dubai, because I can't imagine that happening with any of the dealers I know.

I doubt you will find a good, straight, no story car within that budget, auction cars are cheaper and there is a reason why, good cars stay at dealerships and are worth selling and serviceing to thier customers.

AMEN JASCLASS - took the words right out of my mouth - if you want a nice car $$$$, if you are OK with a beater, then $. Problem is that it will take a lot more than you saved to turn the beater into a nice car. I made that mistake years ago looking for a cheap Jaguar XJS - I should have spent the extra 2-3K for a pristine one. This time I spent the extra money for the pristine 01TT and never regretted it. Some buyers can't tell the difference between an "8" car and a "9.5" car, so I suppose it would be a waste of money for them.

Actually I used that service when I lived in the states. This was about 4 years ago and very very few people where willing to do it but I hear that these days its a lot easier.

I'm not saying this just because I have a car to sell...I'm saying it because I've seen auction cars.

Stay Away!

There's a reason that they cost $10K less than private party market.

Shouldn't generalize about auction cars- some may be great condition , well taken care of trade ins to non -Porsche high line dealership who can't find a local Porsche dealership who wants to floor it - maybe they already have several used they can't sell !
Also, no matter how great you think your car is, to dealerships, they'll give you what they can get at "auction " prices - so these so called " bad " cars set the trade in prices to some extent .
The astute used Turbo buyer knows this info as much as we owners - they read these boards , too.

Based on those latest numbers these cars have been continuing to depreciate about 1K per month. Even after the 997TT comes out in 2 years I can't see them selling below 40K. This may be a good time to buy.

If you guys are in the chicago area and want to go to a highline sale and are ready to buy let me know! If i cant get you in, I can find you a car! I have seen 996 TTs go from mid 60's to mid 70's (01-03) depending on miles! All of them were pretty nice and I know my porsches and even drove two of them!

A lot of time at auctions you find great cars! There are some rough ones but usually those are cheaper! most higher priced cars are pretty nice and either come from banks, lease companies or other dealerships who may have got the car in on trade and want to get rid of it faster than letting it sit! For example I was at a bmw financial auction a little while ago and got a good friend of mine a prestine X-5 4.4I for about 5k cheaper than he could have got it at a dealership! It was a leased car that was absolutely mint! I checked out about 6 X-5s that day and this one was the nicest! So i guess it depends on the auction and who is getting the car for you! Find someone who is knowledgable about the car and the market/conditions of these vehicles! I have bought an M3, and a couple other cars for guys around here and they have all had great experiences and saved a ton of cash! I only do this on the side because my best friends father owns a car dealership and got us registered to buy the cars! He takes me when people are looking for sports car/euro cars and I check them out and buy them! So if you are in chicago or close by send me a PM and we'll see whats around if you want!

Is it still standard for the dealer to mark up the vechicle 15% over what they paid for it?
