Look in the dupont registry. Theres abouot 20 01's for sale. The range is low to high seventies for 20K and up. For 10K - 20K I think you're looking at high 70's- mid 80's. Perhaps you should wait till the 997 turbo comes out? I fear a drastic drop for all 996 TT's then.

They are out there for 68 to 75k. Miles are the key YET there is the fact that many are sitting on the lot. I have several I book marked on Ebay that are STILL for sale months later.

You're not helping me Captlst!

In all serisousness...a private party cannot expect to pay auction prices. I think that a more realistic price is low wholesale book + $2K-$5K depending on options, condition of the car, and location.

if the buyer is smart he can come close. This is definately a buyers market right now, not a sellers

From what I've seen, the only sellers willing to let their cars go at the low end of the wholesale price are those with high miles and/or very few options (base cars).

Not too many typical Porsche buyers would buy such a car. This is where you're likely to find poseurs who have $60K burning a hole in their pocket and they just want to get into a turbo with no appreciation for the car. Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

If you really take a look, any of the nice turbos that are clean, story free, and well optioned are holding OK in the private market.

Interesting thought - if we had waited three years we could have bought TWO turbos for the price of the original one. We would be getting cars with some miles on them - maybe 20K - probably some hard miles on them, probably saved a small mint on mods because one would already be modded. One could be a parts bin.

The trade off is the mileage and having the new smell for a couple of weeks......

Too late, wise......

In spring/summer 2000, these same early Turbos with bumper warts and solid spoke wheels were advertised for $175K in Autoweek, with some selling near that !

Actually quite a few dealers will go in for the auction price + a fee this is of course assuming you go with them to the auction etc. not just an off the lot purchase.

BTW technically a 2001 is a 4+ year old car now!
