Since you guys have been so great with my splitter problem... here is another.....

on the driver' side of the center console about 6-8 inches back there is a small black round switch. I have one on my 2004/996tt and my neighbor has one on his 1999C2-cab - yet we cant figure out what it is for??????

about 1cm in diameter, black round rocker switch - about 10 inches off of the floor, 8 or so back from the front of the center dash...... doesnt seem to do anything obvious. Local Porsche mechanic has no idea either.

Remember my neighbor with a 1999c4 has a similar switch

 

Yes, it is not uncommon for more than one person to have a k-40 or something installed. You would know it if you had one.
