I'm still trying (with no luck to date) to explain to my Italian friends why a single dyno run is not an absolute number....

Anyway, an AWD car loses more power beacuse of the center/front transmission components: bearings, viscous coupling, gears...all of them introduces a loss of power (which is converted into heat) due to friction.

Plus, if you measure the power with by measuring inertial variations you have to dial with the higher moment of inertia of an AWD system (more rotating masses).

Ari,
Those are really good numbers on craptane 91!!
Probably land 550-580 on 93...

I agree with your crank estimate.

The best a crank estimate can get is just an estimate, there is only one true way for knowing how much power the engine puts out exactly.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

The car is very fast and runs even better. The 91 file had to be dialed back due to the gas quality.

I am waiting for the guys at GIAC to put together a race file for me. I'd love to get a file that really feels different for those occasions when I do run race gas. Hopefully with more boost and timing. I'm not one of those race gas 100% of the time guys, maybe I'll ask them to hook me up with a 104 octane file that should work out to what's left in the tank @ 91 + 109 for the balance.

Maybe down the road I'll contact markski for a Divexx type piggy back fuel pump.

Without knowing the baseline, you can't just throw generic loss % out.

Ari- Call Austin or Andrew and asking him what a stock car makes on their dyno. Then figure crank hp based on that reading.
Having a baseline for a particular car is important. The 996tt's baseline will vary mainly due to how the motor break in was done.

I thought the 997 GT2 was baseline enough?

Which 90% of is done before the engines are installed in the car. Resulting in VERY small variations on factory built engines.
