996tt or gtr?
Scott, you would prefer a GTR for roll on racing?
Here is the latest from the E900 car...

I don't know yet. Wait until I after race Jamie and I'll get back to you.
All joking aside, I still think the modded TTs and GT2s will have an advantage from a roll with the right driver, but modded GT-Rs (especially that one) are freaking weapons, that's for sure.
Nice runs!

Can I please get some input on this?
Hopefully from some people that have had both?
I'm Looking to build a 7-800awhp car, originally looking to do a 996TT, but to mod it to the level I want, the math gets a little fuzzy
996TT will cost 40-45k & another 30-35k in mods puts me at 70-80k
GTR will cost 55-60k & another 25-30k in mods puts it at 80-90k
So for virtually the same price (within 5-10k) that is the decision
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!

I would only get a P800 GTR when the price drops a bit more more before consideration. If this is a weekend toy get the 996 Turbo, if you plan to do some rush hour metro Detroit daily driving the GTR would have to be the choice.

I know...I think when that pic was taken, you were still in middle school Neil LOL
But seriously Frank, cant go wrong with either choice! Good luck bro.

I remember when Tym brought the CGT over to my house to show Sr., I will never forget how that thing sounded, like nothing else...

i would go with the 996tt. these cars have proven themselves over time to be reliable. only time will tell how well the nissan's engine and transmissions will fare with the added power. i have a hunch that people will have to spend more money on the GTR to get the same level of straight line performance as well as reliability at those power levels. finally, a few cosmetic mods on the 996tt and you can have it all.
Pretty simple one is a Nissan and the other is a Porsche.
Porsche has more race wins than any other manufacturer. It has a pedigree dating back for 40 plus years.
It is considered a timeless design and always will be. While the GTR looks decent I don't like the looks compared to a 911.
Porsche there is no substitute!

The GTR is less involved, heavier, uglier, and far less cool than our cars. Also There are many time tested 700hp plus cars, so tuning options are better as well. "There is no substitute"...
Are you saying that a Zonda can't compare to the Porsche because it isn't as old? I'd beg to differ.
Interesting... I've raced a 997TT on the 1/4 (much like the OP wants to drag race this car - which he's already conceeded on another thread, that because the GT-R can't go much over 200mph right now, it isn't the choice car for him). I had no problem beating him every one of the three runs, by .5secs or more. What does this have to do with racing pedigree? Nothing.

Plus he's going to spend a LOT more if he wants to get into the 9's etc... I have insider information on even the COST to build the tranny correct, etc... It's NOTHING compared to the Porsche. Plus I've been 10.08 @ 148.8 on a STOCK transmission and rearend with just a Tilton Triple Disk. Best mph 149.3 mph.
