This is a great thread... I've been trying to find out the same thing here for a while.

My situation is this; I don't ever plan on taking my car to the track... street use only. Do I need to spend the extra money on coilovers, or will springs alone do the trick? And the trick here being mainly a visual improvement - due to lowered ride height, but also a small improvement on handling due to lowered center of gravity. Now that someone mentioned throwing in new dampeners (Bilstein or Koni) you have just upped your parts cost to (near) coilover territory... So just bite the bullet and do coilovers anyways?

Finally, will going to coilovers for 'street-only use' do a number on my ride quality? I know these things don't ride like Cadillacs to begin with, but will I lose the last remaining bit of comfort by installing coilovers on my car?

Thanks in advance fellas!

If your not going to track then lowering springs and a rear sway bar w/ drop links is the way to go.
H&R or Ruf springs. H&R or GT2 sway. Tarett or TRG drops.
If you can put in the springs and the sway w/ drops then w/ an alignment you are looking at $1,000 +r-.

Cool! I love my car. Mine is pretty much stock. I have AP silicone hoses, GMG DVs, and a BMC filter. I got them all used in very good condition and have less then $400 invested so far. Unless I get some used coil overs I'm going the route I posted because I probably won't track my car or not for enough to need more then that.

Congrats on the car! Enjoy!

Just get the Bilstein PSS-10 set up. The incremental cost of parts is small compared to the cost of labor and having to do it all over again if the lowering springs/sport shocks don't work out for you..
