HdiaS4 is infamous around these parts
Hi there.

This is my first post on 6speed, so i'll introduce myself.

My name is Haime, I live in Omaha, but i'm originally from Brazil.

I currently own a 2001 Audi S4 manual stg 3+, just enough mods to fill a book.
This was my second Audi, I had a b5 A4 before getting the s4.

I like doing all the work on my car, and coming from two b5s, i'm not scared of maintenance.

For me a 996 is the next step on the progression of cars owned . There isn't much out there that i feel can replace my S4 as an all around car. But the 996 is going to exceed on the most important tasks (track, style, power), i'll get a winter beater, unlike my S4 i'm not planning to drive the 996 on snow.

So while i feel very comfortable working on cars in general, I do not know the tricks of the 996 turbo. That is the reason i'm posting, kind so you guys can give me heads up on what to look for, what things are good to have and what i should avoid. I'm looking to buy a 996 within 6 months ( this is not a WTB post, i don't want to **** of the mods on my first post) so i'm looking to get educated on the platform, more than anything, to ensure i get the perfect car for me.

Any help will be appreciated, so if there are any good links, websites, etc that i should be looking at, please let me know.

Thanks,

Haime

Welcome! I would recommend you use the search button and start typing questions. Really good information on this site, once you've read recent posts then you probably could get more specific with your own questions, very helpful way to start, now that I have been here for a while I would of started using the "search" first as well. Good Luck!

My advice is to drive it in the winter. I drive my 996 year around and I'm due east of you in Iowa. It's a GREAT snow car.

Could not agree more - as long as you run on snow tires...hard for me to imagine anything is better (or more fun) in the snow...

Love that pic. Mine often looks the same. I completely agree on snow tires.

I get so many looks all winter.

I put about 13,000 miles a year on my 996TT and its not my only fun car!
