PSS10 questions???

For quite some time, like a year I road on 19's and full hard setting. Thought I would play around with it some and perhaps make the ride a bit more comfy when not at track.

I put front to 6 clicks hard and rear 5 clicks hard. Feels Ok. What do others run for around town and at track?

My drivers side coilover **** is EXTREMELY tight and I can't make out any clicks when going from soft to hard only when I go hard to soft can I barely make out a click. The **** is so darn tight that I had to put on leather gloves or I would rip my skin off the tips of my fingers after a while.

I have tried with the tire down and no lift and also with the tire up in air and a lift under the car. Makes no difference the **** is still almost impossible to turn esp from hard to soft. Since it is not this way at all on the rears or on the passenger side, I would think this is not normal.

Feedback?

From what Ive gathered, most common street settings are 5 front and 5 rear, and 6 front and 4 rear

The PSS10 ***** should be very easy to turn. The click can be a little vague to feel. Sounds like one of your front struts has some issues. I run 7 rears 5 fronts and crank them 10 rear and 8 front if I track it. H&R bars full soft front (outer hole) full hard rear (inner hole). Tagget drop links, ERP Dog bones and toe steer links. Got rid of the horrible stock oversteer. The PSAM likes to come more often now, but you can alway just turn it off. This is a good street set up but only good for occasionally track use.

Sounds like you run yours a bit softer up front and stiffer in rear. I thought to dial out the "light feeling" front end it would be better to stiffen or turn to a harder setting, no?

Any reason you do it this way tech wise or does it just feel better to you?

Thanks for feedback.

My tech set it up this way to dail out understeer caused mostly by AWD. I came from a 993RS RWD suspension which (with mods) had more oversteer. When getting on the power in the 996TT the front would push out as the PSAM and AWD over compensated for all the back end weight and torque. Seems like Porsche went overboard in making sure the back end and front end didn't swap places like the old 930. The 996TT was just set up too soft and ride height too high by the PCNA to make it more of a touring vehicle. Fortunately there are plenty of aftermarket manufacturers to help solve these problems. I was torn between a TT and a GT2 but the used price premium and beleive it or not the lack of a sunroof on at GT2 swayed my decision.

I'm with Duane996TT:
Something is wrong with the one that doesn't turn.
My settings too are nearly the same...
7 rear, 6 front, H&R front full soft, rear middle. Great street suspension!

Duane and JJ thanks for feedback. Now that I think about it, I have heard softer front on our cars helps dial out understeer. I think I confused it with what I have done with my srt10 viper whereas I tightened up the slightly lighter rear end on my motons cs so I thought it might apply to the tt. Makes sense what you are saying. I will try play around with settings some more and call Bilstien on Monday to see what they say about the very tight ****.

I hope there is nothing wrong with that coilover.

The more I have played with that stiffer **** the better it has gotten esp when the tire is up in the air. Just this weekend I tried 3 front and 4 rear and it is really comfy. I still have the hr sways set at middle for both front/rear but will change that prior to next track day at which time I will go with stiffer front/rear like 6/7 since my local track is a bit bumpy is some of the turns.
