996 Turbo S Audio
996 Turbo S Audio
I've been unable to find this answer elsewhere. If anyone knows or can point me to a website with a focus on car audio/Porsche that would be appreciated.
My 2005 Turbo S Cab has a severely outdated Nav. Also, Bose just isn't right in a Porsche. I want touchscreen nav, iPhone/iPod, Bluetooth, voice commands, +/- on HD radio. I'm happy to pay for quality.
I've gotten recs on the Pioneer and Kenwood double din receiver. Anyone do a straight swap, leaving amps/speakers stock? How much improvement in sound?
What about changing receiver and amp, but stock speakers?
Finally, should I just exchange receiver/amp/speakers all at once?
If I decide to buy parts myself and bring it all to my guy for install, what all do I need? I'm unsure on the current size/number of speakers. I'm not even sure it has a sub...
If it has a sub, what size should my replacement be? If no current sub, what size and where should I put one?
Thanks for any help.

I have an 01 and swapped the din only. The guy who installed it said it is a little more complicated if you have a MOST bus, but I think the install from him would have only been $200 more. I don't have MOST. My install was 300 + 150 for the trim they made. The sound (even with stock speakers and amp) is much better. The Nav - well anything is better than the pile of doo doo I had (PCM I), but it is fantastic. Blue tooth works seemlessly (at least with my Blackberry). Ipod is awesome (even video) and the same with DVD. I did not install a backup camera - but not to difficult. The unit was 890. I think there is a better model now for 1300 not sure of the new model - but mine is Avic Z110BT - the new one might be Z120BT.

This is what sold me on doing it (including the garage door opener)
