Well I'm replacing my pistons (with ligther weight ones) thanks to some ... ahem minor wear/rubbin'.... I'll post my pics soon but it's nothing exciting. One rod is slightly bent and another looks S-shaped.

You didn't believe me .......... did you?
And I bent all six.
I wonder who is going to be the first to have a rod let go?
Nah I saw the pix... I knew you did but I figured it had something to do with those 7krpm drops with NOS
Mine weren't as severe. All I could see were two of them (at least visably).....
In terms of who will let a rod go first, I'm not sure and I hope nobody will/has... I'm guessing with more and more turbos putting on mileage (since most people do drive them that own them) with these high HP packadges, we'll probably see more people tear them down every 40k or so...

No, we have done it for years. It will hold the case together. The issue is the two halves moving around. Not a good thing to have happen to the mains. The 2.7 case was a prime example of why we do this. Look at Porsche from the past. BIG HP is nothing new. 962, 935, 956 and so on.

I'd love to see what you'll be doing to that TIP Sharky. Waiting for an update with pics, if possible.
On the other hand, I do agree that the less lag you have the better the car would be on the track.

So...what do you guys consider HIGH HP? 700 and over? 600 and over?
Im just wondering if I need to do this as well. Grant it I havent been at 600 for 30K miles (maybe 11K), but what's the overall consensus on when rods should be replaced, etc. for us lowly 600HP guys? Stephen?

Alex, it's nice to see that you are replacing the rods, finally!!! I think that you should think about shuffle pinning you case.. The case is walking around at #7 main web.. I have written a CNC program to handle it on my CNC...
Bill, 650 flywheel is the limit.. beraing wear is taking place..

That's some good info. Was it doing that also with the 993TT?There's some stuff I'm having done to the crank (although I don't think I'll be knfie-edging as I'm worried about weaking it). I don't think I'm going to flow the heads though. I might do some additional motor work as well but I'm not planning to do super high revs or anything like that....

Sharkster, were all your rod bearings worn or just the ones in the bent rods?
