Who's "GT2RS"?
None of the previous posts really reference the owner in a derogatory way...member's have only given an opinion the car's "accessories." Not sure where anyone referred to the owner as a loser.

correct me if I am wrong but the decklid looks like a std turbo decklid with the mashaw gt2 wing added to it. Maybe this is an wicked motorworks GT2RallySuper
Oh and I was almost sure that there was a 996 GT2RS. It had a higher wing height.

I find it quite interesting that a thread was started to show a car that has been made to look cosmetically like a GT2 RS, and yet it is not, and telling everyone here why would you do that “ a GT2 owner would never do that”. I don’t believe that is the right thing to do especially when it’s not your car and the owner didn’t even ask for comments, as they didn’t even post it.
Secondly, the poster himself has in signature a car that he labeled himself a clone (a copy of a car that is not the original)……isn’t that the kettle calling the pot black?
Thirdly, isn’t this particular forum full of members who are modding their cars (996tt) to either look like GT2’s or perform like GT2’s and in most cases perform better?????
GT2 Slaves
GT2 Brakes
GT2 Body Kits
GT2 Rear Spoilers
GT2 Turbos
GT2 Wheels (size)
GT2 IC
GT2 Drive train mod AWD to RWD
Etc. etc. etc.
But you don’t find comments saying “no true Turbo owner would put a GT2 badge on their car”, but I could list plenty here that do (with or without the badge) (and no I will not list examples just to prove my point), so why does the RS part of the badge make the difference??
hmmmm i must have read the post differently..........IMO, the implication was MOST certainly there! Seriously you cannot say that it wasn’t meant any other way……
If you have to say "no offence to the owner" then you are clearly apologizing for a comment you are going to make.......it’s the same as saying permission to speak freely or I mean you no disrespect but....... all ways of saying I’m going to say something that may offend you, and by letting you know before I say it, is all OK.
So no I don’t get that, so please (anyone) tell me if my thinking is wrong, I don’t want to offend anyone here, but that is just my opinion lol and clearly it is acceptable to state it.
So, SaintGT2, what are you trying to say
I read it twice and am still lost.
The car is a Turbo, that much is obvious. I guess if you want to call it a GT2, you might as well go big and make it GT2RS. I would even go a step further and go GT2RSRAWDTTK24LSDX73X50S, so you got all bases covered
Why anyone would do this is beyond me, but people do this all the time.

The only stupid part was trying to mitigate the "IMO this car looks crap" part with the "no offence to the owner". What difference does it make? The owner is either going to be offended by your opinion not, saying 'no offence' is not going to change that.
Not to mention 'IMO' is such a useless tautology - who elses opinion could it be? Your grandmother dictating to you from the other end of the hall?
If I draw an extra zero on a ten dollar note it doesnt make it worth a hundred dollars. And just because my watch that was made in China says Hublot on it doesnt make it a real Hublot. Equivalently, a GT2 and now a 'GT2 RS' are a specific thing, and by advertising to passers by that this car is one of them is just fraud. I don't condone people who wear fake watches while telling people they are real, I don't condone people with silicon ***** telling people they are natural and I dont condone this car.
Saying your car is something better than it really is is just wishful thinking. Now if a GT2 owner put a turbo badge on his car, making it appear less valuable and rare than it actually is, then that is something I would see the funny side of.
(P.S. I would never say a turbo is less of a car than a GT2 - in fact technically I believe it is certainly more).

Saint GT2,
First off, I personally think the car looks VERY nice and would LOVE to have that car as is. Turbo's that put on GT2 bodywork in my opinion look great and are fine. My car pays homage to the Carrera RS and uses correct body pieces to do so. But my car doesn't have an aftermarket interpretation of a 930ish whale tale on it and me badging it a GT3. That being said, nobody was making fun of what the car looks like. In person the car is actually quite stunning. It's the GT2RS badge at the rear that makes it somewhat comical. If he had 997.2 GT2 RS bodywork done to it and was paying homage to the GT2RS, ie. a clone, then it'd be a whole different ball of wax. Sure you'd still have a few naysayers that would say only a real car should wear that badge, but atleast it would look like the car it's trying to portray or represent. Whereas this car looks NOTHING like the car it's trying to represent. It'd be like someone taking a Ferrari 308 (which to me is still one of the most aesthetically pleasing body shapes), throwing on F360 Mirrors and throwing a sticker along the side and tail calling it a Scuderia. Anyway, this thread wasn't meant to offend anyone, we were just having a little fun.

I appreciate the explanation, and understand your point of view. Thanks
As for the badge, it's their car, and it's a Porsche badge, who really cares? The only people suffering from the badge are those who waste energy complaining about it. 999 of 1000 people don't know the difference. I get asked all the time if my car is a GT2 with no badges, no front end conversion. ETC.
I don't think the wrap looks good, I like shiny paint. I don't like the wheels either (don't like Matte black). This person seems to have Corvette syndrome, where they put all of the little do-dads on the car they can so it shouldn't surprise anyone that they have a random (albeit not that random) badge on the car.

Well I saw this GT2RS today at Supercar Sunday. All I can say is wow. Also the fact the owner pulled out of the parking lot, gassed the car down the main street as an exibition and pulled back into the parking lot, does not help his case. Sorry
Gt2rs?
Damn, I was just starting to think it was one of those high quality Beetle conversions. Guess not with those dandy LED's.............the 6v generator wouldn't power those little beauties up
Simonoz
2001 GT2
1974 Carrera RS
I can remember when wrapping was something to do with Christmas (just!)

Being on this forum and others Porsche forums for a very long time ....... many of the comments were predictable.
My opinion is not to subjectively judge others. I'm sure he has a very high esteem for the GT2 RS and would love to have one. Not everyone can afford the real thing.
