if you think the used market for them is ugly now, wait until they roll out the new 600 hp replacement!

Porsche has big bills to pay vs the smaller Ferrari. They can't build in low quantities to prop prices , as owner equity doesn't pay THEIR bills , only units sold to the dealership network.
With the easy money from banks and auto makers, even 100K cars are " affordable " so they flood the used market . As another post said, Porsche is just another used expensive German car , which depreciates similarly.
Anyone hazard to guess what a 2005 S65 will wholesale for 2 yrs from now ?

I think more in the short term what's really going to kill the Gallardo coupe is the intro of the Gallardo Spyder this spring. If supply far exceeds demand now, just wait until that spyder comes out.

I am really not all that sure that these cars will be worth that in 2 years. imo they'll be well under 200k due to a glut of cheaper and more practical " supercars" The gallardo is also a problem as Lambos have traditionally been closer to F-cars than P-cars for depreciation (my understanding anyway). I just think that when you can by a subaru or mitsi for 30k that performs like they do, we may be having a fundamental shift in buyers mentality of what a car SHOULD perform like. If that mindset continues, then it will be bad news for the high end sports car.

I think also that the gt will suffer from high non warranty repair costs that will leave a sour taste in many mouths.

IN MY OPINIOn if you drive your car regularly everyday or only on the weekends and not make it a garage queen, the depreciation you accrue with your car may it be ferrari, lamborghini, or porsche will all be worth it..

mostly people that ***** about the depreciation of our cars are the folks who drive their cars less than 1,000.00 miles a year and are tired of it and now trying to sellng..

but if you actually drive your car... it'll be all worth it. from the depreciation, car payments etc....

i remember someone told me a while back..

"Man if i had a car like that I'd drive it liek i stole it."

Funny how you compare a wholesale price to a retail price and thats ok when its Lambo.

So lets see, wholesale on that CGT as of this point, id imagine is right around 325. Id also bet in 2 years, CGT's will be less than 200k.

Absolutely. You are looking at a 25% loss already, another 2 years, car is 200k maybe even under.

BTW, Allan, my CGT could go to zero and it wouldn't change my lifestyle any. The cash I wired for the car and sales tax paid has already been written off in my mind.
this is an important point. I think that this is the only scenerio in which you can truly enjoy a car like this. Otherwise it becomes a bit of a pain in the *** to own.

Funny, but it is rather easy to ship your cars from state to state, and even to Hawaii as you travel the country. There is no benefit to not registering a car in Hawaii as it is same as Florida ******bag. Lastly, since my H2 IS registered in Hawaii, and my other vehicles are on the mainland, im failing to see your point dip****. Cars need only to be registered in the state of primary residence.
